From my point of view, I was free falling into an endless abyss of evident death. I probably was exaggerating but it was such from my point of view. It was a phobia and people's fears differ. You cannot judge me for what I am afraid of.

It felt as if I took an eternity to fall, every second magnifying the fears inside my head, growing them triple in size until their existence drowned my thoughts.

When the water hit my face, I screamed, only to be assulted by large amount of salt water that entered my mouth. The panic of it all setting off my fight, flight or freeze response, making me stiff and unable to move. In water, this is very bad and my brain was able to comprehend as much but no matter what I did, I couldn't bring myself to move.

My fear intensified when a very obvious, large, grey fin came into my range of vision. My brain screamed shark and that was a reason behind my phobia of water so this didn't help. It compounded the problem and I found my voice, and apparently my movement because I began thrashing and screaming once again as the onslaught of salt water continued on my throat and lungs.

I was going to drown. This was it, I'm dying. I was on the verge of passing out when Tina and Lana came into my very reduced field of vision, immediately hauling me up and supporting me fully. I tried to tell them to leave because they can get hurt by the shark but I couldn't speak anymore. I don't know where they got the strength but they physically lifted me out and carried me the distance to the sand.

Registering that I was safe for now, I let my eyes close to the blended yelling in the background.
