A bloody scream pierces your ears. Then a loud boom. You snap up from the bed.

"Please! Don't hurt me!" a woman wailed. Screams and sounds of panic followed after. You peek out your blinds to find the woman at an android's feet. She was on her knees crying between the two while they simply looked down, faces unchanged. She opened her mouth to beg only to be completely obliterated by an energy blast. The adrenaline woke you up completely.

"Seventeen let's go. I'm already bored."

"Come on! We just got here..."

You pulled yourself away from the window and started to shake. They were here, and the radio spokespeople were not lying about how catastrophic they were. You wanted to sit and pretend that it was all a dream but the scream and cries of people quickly reminded you that you needed to leave.

You quickly put on sweats and shoes and grabbed your phone and car keys. Your apartment started to shake, but luckily you stayed on the bottom floor. You ran out of the building as fast as you could. You were out of breath by the time you got inside your car. The car garage sounded like it was about to collapse You were shaking so hard that you were fumbling with the keys. You then stopped.

Where were you going to go? You had no family here to take you in and the closest relative was in the next city over that was already destroyed. Upon this realization, you sat back in the seat and began crying. You were careful not to cry too loudly, you didn't want the androids hearing you if they were close. Hot tears were still streaming by the time you heard the next building fall. Most people were either already dead or in the process of escaping. You were almost so quick to accept your fate.

Minutes later, things started to quiet down. You still heard buildings being destroyed, but you noticed that it was now at least a mile down. You were surprised that you weren't crushed already. You then wiped away your tears and decided to drive the opposite way of where the androids were going. You doubted they would come to destroy the same place again, or at least you hoped.

You took what seemed like your last deep breath and started the engine. You floored the gas and drove as far as you could.

As you were driving, you turned on the radio to see if there were any updates on the android's specific location. You could get stations from other cities, other islands, but only one station came up for your city; it wasn't running. You assumed the worst.

You soon pulled up to the place that was once considered downtown. The place was deserted and the buildings were nothing but crumbles of what it was once was. You parked in the middle of an intersection to gather yourself. Your heart was beating out of your chest and your mind was scrambling on what to do next. You tried to pull yourself out of it but the nihilism was starting to kick in here.

The sound of a window shattering snapped you back into reality. You looked up and found shards of glass coming from one of the top floors of a skyscraper. You froze; a body started to fall. Your eyes followed it until you thought it smashed into the ground. Air whooshing above you caused you to peer your eyes up. They widened with terror; it was the androids.

They both stood above the cloud of smoke where the body fell and started blasting at it. You covered your mouth and almost started screaming. The blasts lasted for at least 30 seconds following by another cloud of smoke. Your body was completely still, hoping that neither of them saw you or your previously moving car.

"Now can we go?" you heard.

"Sure. That guy was becoming a real bother. He should be dead now."

Another whoosh of air from above cleared some of the smoke from your view. You noticed a newly formed crater just ahead. Your gut told you to investigate and you hoped the scene wasn't too gruesome. You got out of the car and crept your way to the edge of the crater. The silence was loud as you waited for a couple of minutes for the last bit of smoke to clear out.
