**This chapter is long, feel free to skip through if you don't want plot**

It was a quiet evening at the Laundia - your favorite place to dress up for no reason and listen to smooth jazz. Perhaps to fish some guys into buying you a few drinks, but you loved going and being alone. Today, side conversations weren't as prevalent. You weren't sure why, but you didn't care enough.

At the bar, you sat in a long black dress with high slits on both sides. The v-neck dipped right where your belly started but your arms were fully covered. Your hair was out and down because the colder seasons started and it was getting brisk. A gold and dainty body chain bralette accentuated your chest. You felt elegant for the first time in months.

With a dirty martini in your hand, you looked down at your thighs. You flexed the muscles and stared at your strappy heels. You giggled to yourself. You felt so seductive and powerful tonight; it was such a shame you weren't in the mood to take anyone in this building home with you.

On your planet, you were the strongest warrior that was left after the Great Purge. The last warrior out of your team was killed off many years ago and you were left to pick up their mess and protect the planet. At first, you didn't mind, but with how many killers and assassins were out to get either you or the planet itself, it was beginning to feel like a chore.

Not like you couldn't handle it, but it was a tiresome feat nonetheless.

The soft notes of the saxophone and piano caused your thoughts to wonder. You often dreaded thinking about all the battles you had on your own. But this time, you didn't mind. It had been a while since you encountered a foe you couldn't handle. The last foe you fought just showed that you had grown stronger in the past few months. However, he made it seem so personal. They were spouting something about the way you killed their superior and how much they admired them. The fire in their rage caused them to be more serious than you usually are. They were threatening to take the whole galaxy with them if they lost.

The near-death experience had caused you to grow stronger, immensely in fact. At this point, you were stronger than all of your previous team members combined. Deep inside, you knew that they would all be proud, however, you couldn't help but feel so tired of the responsibilities. The weight of the people's lives was once evenly distributed onto seven warriors' shoulders; being the only one left was beginning to take its toll on you.

Additionally, you felt as if the people were beginning to take you for granted. What was once considered an honorable treatment of the people had turned into a solid, almost bare minimum expectation from them. They wanted you to be prompt and borderline perfect, with no regard for how you were feeling or how much was on your plate. The plate began to get easier and easier to handle the stronger you got, however not even the government was trying to look for someone else to share in the battles anymore. You were at least guaranteed a nice roof over your head and free food (but sometimes you couldn't even sleep or eat with how many directions you were pulled across the world).

You often wondered what would happen if you abandoned your home planet.

It felt like an absolute sin to even think of something like that. Abandoning your people, your home, after all the things they had given you. But it couldn't hurt to fantasize, right?

You wouldn't make the effort to tell anyone, you knew how to get around the government surveillance. It would be so easy to just one day get up and fly somewhere far away.

But where would you go? What would happen to your people? Would they even notice at first? Of course, they would, you were part of what made the world go round.
