A War?! With Who?!

-----------------------------------------------

"Have you made your plane tickets?" Noah mumbled, hurriedly walking around the kitchen as I sat at the table, going through emails.

"Yes."

"And you added Emmett to the itinerary?"

"Yes mother."

"Don't patronize me. I'm just making sure everything is ready for you to go, because God knows I am not ready to be left alone with two children by myself." My blonde friend sighed, pulling out a seat to sit down next to me at the kitchen table.

"You'll be fine. You have a knack for this stuff. I wouldn't leave you her here if I didn't think you were capable of doing it all by yourself." I mused, moving one seat over so that I could properly comfort the ball of stress sitting beside me. "Everything is set up and prepared, Noah. Take a breath." I smiled, running my hand up and down his arm.

"Okay, okay, whatever you say." Noah sighed, anything else he was going to say getting cut off my Levi entering the kitchen.

"Actually, I have something I need to tweak in that plan..." He trailed off, awkwardly looking at the ground.

"And what might that be kid?" Noah chuckled, turning to give my nephew his full attention.

"I want to stay here with you and the kids. I think it would be easier for us all if I did." The teen proposed, fiddling with his hands.

"You mom won't love that Levi." I urged, thinking of how stressed this would make Beth if he actually went through with it. She would be a ball of emotions and God knows Nicola would be a little stressed as well. He had enough on his plate trying to mentally and emotionally handle the fact that his daughter was an imprint.

"I'll talk to her, but really, I should stay here." Levi tried to suggest again, this time sounding more and more like he was begging for our approval.

"Well, in all honestly I have nothing against the idea, but we will only have a deal if you agree to tell us why you actually want to stay. None of this helpfulness bullshit." Noah sighed, earning a whack from me for swearing in front of my nephew.

"Okay fine, if that means you will let me stay." Levi sighed, running a hand through his hair nervously. "I'm about ninety percent sure that Cara is my mate and I want to stay here to be with her and help you take care of her. Is that enough information for you?"

"Yes, that is exactly enough and exactly what I expected." Noah laughed, raising his hand up for a high five. "Congratulations kid, but keep in mind that if there's any tom foolery here I will whoop you ass."

"Aye, aye captain." Levi beamed, before turning to me. "Lucy? Thoughts?"

"Well, honestly Levi I'm happy for you. Congratulations! I'm sure we can convince the family to let you stay. They're busy enough, I'm sure everyone will be excited for some good news." I smiled, standing up so I could wrap the boy, who was now basically as tall as me, in a big hug. At first, he tried to push me away, but when I did not move, he gave up and leaned into my hug.

"Thanks Luce." He mumbled into my shoulder. "So does this mean you will make the call for me?"

"For you? No way." I laughed, pushing him lightly, but I will be there when you call and I am willing to help."

"Okay, fine." He grumbled, turning around to stalk off.

"Before you go pout somewhere like the moody teenager you are, go grab the house phone so we can get this over with." I scolded, gesturing to the living room where the phone was sat on its charger.
