Eight ~ I'm Here for You, Honey Bun Sweetie Poo

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Well, good morning, sweetheart." I heard Esme's sweet voice muse as I pried my eyes open only to find myself in an unknown, white room.

"Good morning?" I questioned, a little confused.

"You passed out. Emmett brought you here for Carlisle to check out." The kind woman smiled at me as she grabbed a pillow to help me prop my head up.

"Where is Emmett?" I asked, knowing he would be a big ball of stress if someone he cared about were hurt.

"Carlisle made him go hunt because he was pacing a hole in my living room." Esme laughed as she opened the door leading into the white room I assumed to be Carlisle's office even though I had never been inside here before.

"Lucy!" Jasper scolded as he walked into the bright room. Tossing me an oversized sweatshirt I only had to assume was Emmett's. "You have everyone a heart attack! What the hell." He scolded me like I was a child.

"Jaz, I'm not a kid, plus this isn't that abnormal in my household. I'm just having a stronger-than-normal growth spurt. Remember Aki's from right before you left?" Jasper and Esme both nodded, "well, that's basically what's happening to me right now, but it's been so long that I guess I just fainted from the shock to my body."

"Well, that explains it. I could not find a human medical reason for what was happening. I really need to write some more things down about you hybrids, so if I ever come across it again, I will be prepared." Carlisle mused as he entered the room, a large cup of blood in his hand as he looked over all the monitors connected to me. "Your heart looks like it is barely beating." He worried."

"That's also normal, I swear. It's like I become more vampire-esque when these happen. It'll go back to normal in a day or two, probably." I tried to assure everyone as they looked at me, unsure of whether or not I was exaggerating. Before anyone could say anything in response, a door slammed, and my superhuman hearing heard the whoosh of superhuman speed before Emmett's giant figure stood in the doorway.

"You're awake!" He beamed, moving to place a light kiss on my head, almost like I would break under his touch. "I was so worried you wouldn't wake up, and the last thing we said to each other was going to be a fight."

"Em, this is going to happen multiple times over the time you will know me. Don't worry; I always come back swinging, much to everyone's dismay." I smiled up at him, choosing to forget how annoying he was yesterday because his fear and worry were apparent on his face, and that was punishment enough for his stupidity.

"I'm happy you're okay. You managed to give me a heart attack." Emmett sighed dramatically.

"But you're dead," Jasper stated.

"Well, Jasper, she restarted my heart and then attacked. Happy?!" Emmett snapped at his brother, rolling his eyes in annoyance.

"Yeah, Jaz! Happy?!" I laughed, joining in the banter for no apparent reason.

"Don't mock me," Emmett whined, looking down at me through his long lashes.

"Be nice to her, Em. She just woke up from us thinking she was dead." Esme scolded as she grabbed both Carlisle and Jasper and pulled them out of the room with her.

"Can I get up and leave this bed?" I questioned, putting on my best puppy dog eyes in hopes of breaking the bear-like boy in front of me.

"You shouldn't do anything too physical, but if you want to move to the couch or somewhere else, that's okay." He stated after pausing to think through everything I'm assuming Carlisle told him after my collapse.

"Can I go lay in your bed? Your room is so much less starkly white than this one." I suggested, pushing myself into an upright position.

"Wow, Luce, if you wanted me to take you to the bedroom, you sure picked a bad time to do it." Emmett's booming laugh filled the room as he reached out to help me stand up. "Do you want me to carry you?"

"Normally, I would say no, but god, I am tired, so I guess so." I chuckled, reaching my arms up in the air like a small child does when they want their parent to pick them up. Emmett quickly swept me up into his arms like I weighed nothing, which I guess, for him, I did.

He walked in silence all the way to his room. I could hear the rest of his family, minus Rosalie scattered throughout the house.

"I'm missing the wedding!" I suddenly yelled, startling Emmett.

"They understand Luce, I swear. Aki talked to them and explained how you were feeling. Emily was sad, but she just wanted you to be okay." He assured me as he softly placed me on the large bed in the center of his room.

"But she's human and will probably only be married once!" I mumbled, feeling like I was going to burst into tears for no real reason.

"Are you going to cry?!" Emmett almost screeched, looking at me with wide eyes, like he was both shocked and about to laugh at the exact same time.

"Maybe... I really don't know. I'm tired; this happens sometimes."

"Well, how bout we take a nap." The brown-haired boy suggested, smiling at me lightly. I nodded, scooting over, so there was room for him, and he lowered himself onto the bed, piling pillows under his head.

"You're taking all the pillows!" I chuckled, slapping him lightly on the shoulder.

"You know how we solve that." He laughed along, pulling me close so that I was pressed to his side as he squeezed me closer, but not enough to hurt me.

"You're so cold!" I hissed, complaining as I pulled away from him ever so slightly.
