Estelle woke up with a gasp; her body shot up from the bed as she tried to collect herself. Her eyes darted around the room to check her surroundings, and she relaxed when she realised that she was in her bedroom.

Looking out of the window, Estelle found it was later in the night. It was frosty outside as it was nearing winter. She hoped that it wouldn't be as cold as her world, but she would just have to find out. Shuffling off the bed, Estelle made her way out of her bedroom and trekked downstairs. She ignored the cold sting of the freezing floorboards as she made her way inside the kitchen.

Taking some milk out of the fridge, Estelle was caught off guard to find Bakugo standing at the entrance. His hair was ruffled like he had just gotten out of bed, and he had his usual glare on his face.

"Sup, Ruby," Estelle murmured out as she poured the milk into a glass. She only received a grunt for an answer and shrugged at the response. She would never admit it, but Bakugo had gotten her into the habit of drinking milk on nights like these. Aware that she wouldn't be alone if she stayed, Estelle brushed by Bakugo in an attempt to leave. Her arm was suddenly gripped by a hand, and Estelle turned quickly to retaliate. Her mind was still a little foggy from the abrupt awakening, so she hadn't registered the movement until it was nearly too late.

Blinking her eyes quickly, Estelle stared down at Bakugo, who calmly stood in her grasp. Jolting back quickly in alarm, Estelle lifted her hand from his neck. The blonde wasn't fazed since he had concluded that she would always stop herself before she caused harm. Like it was a bodily instinct, but her mind consistently stood firm.

Estelle's apology moved to leave her lips. Surprisingly, she was stopped by the blondes hand once again. Forcing her to take a seat in the living room, Bakugo silently left to make his own warm milk and came back. Sitting in peace, the two drank from their cups. Estelle wondered if he could tell when she was in a fragile state again as nothing left his lips. He was like silent support for her on nights like these, which was a lovely change. She usually felt like she needed to be the rock, and she didn't mind it; that was her role in life.

It had been quite some time before he spoke up. "I thought you were sleeping normally again since you stopped showing up."

Estelle remained silent in answer and continued drinking from her cup. Taking the cue, the blonde nodded. "Ah, so you just didn't come down."

"I meant what I said that night." Estelle cut in bluntly as she evaded looking at the male. She could feel the bubbling under the surface from her words next to her. But before she could let him speak, she persisted, "But I do wish I said it differently."

Flicking her gaze back up to the blonde, she observed as he leaned across the couch to make sure he was heard. "Why does it matter?"

Stumped, Estelle stilled as she had no idea how to answer the question. The inquisitive eyes of Bakugo bore into her as her mouth moved in an attempt to form words. Realising that Estelle wouldn't be able to give him an explanation, the blonde nodded to himself before leaning back.

"It matters because you care."

An immediate refusal was at Estelle's lips from the words Bakugo just uttered. But the shaking of the blondes head just proved that he wasn't going to listen to a comment she would say in response. Sighing in defeat, she allowed Bakugo the win.

The quietness filled the air as Estelle mind whirred into oblivion. God, this was so frustrating to her. Why does he always put her in the position? Why does she feel vulnerable with him around?

"Wait, you've been here every night?" Estelle dialled back in stupefaction. The blonde turned his head away from her words, a faint blush on his cheeks as he pouted. Clearly, he hadn't meant for her to take that part in.
