TW: Brief descriptions of torture.

Estelle gritted her teeth so tightly that her jaw begged for relief. Her comrades surrounded her, backing away from the herd as Estelle lunged for the prison behind them. She had received notification of a large group of light spirits trapped under Nyx.

The news had infuriated her, smoke nearly leaving her mouth with evident seething. It only worsened when the scouts couldn't get closer to the base, but the noises of despair were so loud it could be heard a long distance away. Without thinking further, her body spun to the comrades already arming up, her mouth spitting out orders amidst the smoke, her hand reaching for her katana with a quick movement.

Planning and waiting wasn't an option; they wouldn't last much longer if it continued at this rate. Estelle knew stealth wouldn't work anymore. Nyx must have gotten word of his lost prisoners a while back because ever since their last clash; their security had improved.

She had found out the hard way when she had gone to rescue more trapped spirits only to be surrounded. The battle was tough, and Estelle had to escape without completing the rescue. The failed attempt bothered her for days until she could make her return with her comrades and had managed to take them with her that time.

Placing her squads in separate locations, Estelle used a tried and true method for retrieval and hoped it would work, as there was no time to think it through. So, when she reached the area, it was evident that the spirits had been waiting for them. Cursing, she wondered if they had caught the scouts as they were leaving.

'Ah, it doesn't matter. I'll still kill them all,'  Estelle gritted out in her mind, her scowl only deepening further as the outcries continued to spill in the background. Forcing herself to ignore the injured and helpless spirits behind the locked cage, Estelle's eyes darted to the darklings, who belted out their war shoutings as they lunged.

Letting out a yell of her own, Estelle led her group to attack head-on as a separate group of her comrades came in from behind. Clashing together like boulders, the sound of battle began to ring out as swords, axes and other weapons made contact with flesh. The shrieks of spirits followed, their grunts and growls melding into a symphony that Estelle was all too familiar with.

A squad remained further back, attacking from afar as the other two groups worked in close combat. The whizz of arrows zipped past Estelle's ears, the sound of the impact nearly making her smile within the fight. Cutting off the head of a snarling werewolf and stabbing it in its heart, Estelle quickly spat on the ground as specks of blood flew into her mouth. Snarling at the copper's tang, Estelle began to run for the cages she loathed to find within her sight.

They were so small the spirits were practically crushed together, unable to move as it was filled above their compacity. A Thunderharpy screeched behind them, letting brief flashes of lightning hit the metal rods of the spirit's prisons. The sparks struck the captured spirits, making them wail, their hands reaching past the metal bars in desperation. Hissing as the yells of pain got louder the closer she got, Estelle scanned the metal barrier before her eyes widened in realisation.

A couple of comrades were far behind her, clearly attempting to catch up to her whilst she released the spirits. Turning around, Estelle eyed them, her sights focused on the Elf as she barked, "They're being held by magic; someone, get here and release the seal!"

Heading straight for the Thunderharpy as the Elf took her place, Estelle allowed the air to surround her katana as she struck the creature with all of her might. A spark of lightning managed to hit her before the beast quickly crashed into a tree, a haunting call making her ears ring as it began to wither away.
