(Looks like the operation is a failure.) Rico thought. (I told you. Humanity using a Titan is a waste of time.)

She fired a red flare into the air, signifying that the mission was a failure.

"Hey!" Said a voice behind her.

Rico turned around and saw Asura as he landed in front of her.

"Why are you calling off the mission?" He asked. "We haven't even got started yet!"

"Because your friend tried to kill our men." She said simply. "We're going over the Wall, back to Sina."

Asura looked surprised by the news. Eren tried to kill humans? He pinched the bridge of his nose in frustration as he realized his mistake.

(Damn it, I should've known better.) He thought. (This is only his second transformation. Damn it Fritz, you knew better than to do what you did with Eren!)

"Is my friend alright?" He asked. "Ackermann. She wasn't hurt, was she?"

"No, not too bad." Rico replied. "A piece of debris cut her, but she's fine. She's lucky that monster didn't kill her."

Asura suddenly shoved past Rico hard enough to unbalance her, and moved to Eren and Mikasa.

"That 'monster' is my friend!" He growled. "Gather the rest of the soldiers. We're not retreating yet."

Without another word to Rico, he launched himself towards Eren. Rico just huffed in mild annoyance, but did as Asura said.

She didn't know what Asura had planned, but she held out a small hope it could turn their predicament around..

Armin was already with Eren and Mikasa by the time Asura got to them. He could see in Mikasa's expression she was a bit shocked by what had happened, but she was alright for the most part.

"What happened?" He asked calmly.

"Eren attacked Mikasa." Armin replied. "I don't know why, but he may have lost control when he transformed."

"He's in a lucid state. Somewhere in between awake and asleep." Asura said. "We need him to get him alert so we can continue the mission. Armin, can you get Eren back on his feet?"

Armin looked at Asura surprised, but looked hesitant after a bit.

"I... I don't know. Maybe I can, but I might have to get a bit rough with him."

"Do what you have to, Armin." Asura said. "We'll buy you some time."

As soon as Asura said this, the remaining Garrison forces arrived, aside from the vanguard.

Asura just walked in between the soldiers and spotted his friends among the crowd.

"LISTEN UP!" He shouted. "WE'RE GONNA BUY TIME FOR YEAGER TO GET HIS SHIT TOGETHER!"

"What!?" A soldier said. "The mission is a failure! We have to retreat, and secure the interior!"

"And let the Armored Titan bust down the Inner Gate!? Letting the Titans pour through and into Wall Rose!?" Asura asked. "We have a plan to seal the breach that hasn't even started yet! Which means we have to do our part to get that plan on his feet! The only way we're doing that though is to fight the Titans that are coming through the breach!"

"You can't fight the Titans!" Another soldier wailed. "Face it, rookie! Humanity is done for!"

Asura was silent for a long time after the soldier said that.

"So we're destined to die by the Titans?" He asked. "Is that really our fate!? To be eaten and trampled by Titans until we're extinct!?"

Asura walked over on top of an elevated roof top.
