Wolfgang's eyes looked out from his penthouse and over the town. It wasn't an overly large town, a small, quaint place. The Nachtstern supposed his hotel was only there because he had acquired it from Jason Lucas. He took a long sip of his tea, letting the bitter taste of the Earl Grey flavour wash over his tastebuds.
"When are we gonna get outta here?" Hope asked. Wolfgang looked over at her, seeing that his recently turned girlfriend was already dressed and ready to go out and 'embrace being a vampire'. They had begun lessons in her new abilities, though Wolfgang still wasn't ready to let her begin feeding from the vein.
"Patience, Geliebte, is a virtue," The older vampire said, taking another sip of his tea. He was better than lashing out. It was about time he acted his age. "We have business to attend to." Hope raised an eyebrow at him, crossing her arms. Wolfgang's gaze dipped down for a moment before returning to her face. He needed to control himself. "Like what?"
"Well, first of all, we're going to have breakfast," Wolfgang replied. Hope allowed a smile to bloom across her lips. Wolfgang's eyes followed the movement, wishing to commit the moment to memory. "Now you're talking my language." Hope stepped closer, her tone dropping slightly as she whispered in Wolfgang's ear. "So, who are we eating?"
"You are not going to eat anyone. Not until I feel you can be trusted to control yourself." Wolfgang stepped back, gesturing to the kitchenette attached to the suite's living room. "There's a blood bag in the fridge." Hope let out a groan, walking over to the fridge where she rifled through it. After a moment, she pulled out a blood bag. The tribrid began to drink from it, her eyes on Wolfgang. The Nachtstern returned her stare, the two caught in a stand-off. Hope let out a sigh when she realised he wasn't going to budge. It was his way or no way at all.
Wolfgang watched the scowl settle on Hope's face as she drained the blood bag. In a show of defiance, she carelessly tossed it aside and picked up another. Wolfgang's hands twitched, itching to clean the mess she was making. Instead, he drew in a breath, held it for a moment and then released it. Unfortunately, it fell on him to be the responsible one.
"Are we particularly parched today?" He asked, placing his teacup and saucer down on a table. Hope glared at him silently, sucking loudly on the blood bag. She released it from her mouth with a pop, pink tongue darting out to run over her lips and clean them of blood. "It'd be easier to fill up if my source was live."
"Nice try, sweetheart." Wolfgang took the keys to his car from his pocket, tossing them into the air and catching them again. "I'm not letting you feed from a living person until I know you can control the bloodlust." Hope let out a defeated groan, following behind Wolfgang as they walked out of the room and to where their quarry awaited.
**********
They had been on the road for a while when Wolfgang felt the hunger creep up on him. His fangs threatened to burst from his gums and the heartbeats of those around him amplified greatly. He didn't need to look in the mirror to know that his irises had turned red. The Nachtstern vampire let out a breath, fighting to regain his composure. Hope - who had been giving him the cold shoulder their entire car ride - perked up slightly as Wolfgang pulled into the parking lot of a diner. He got out, seeing that it looked kind of familiar. Perhaps it was simply a generic American diner.
Hope led the way this time, walking out of the car and to the door eagerly. Wolfgang let out a quiet groan, knowing he was going to have to rein his girlfriend in. He followed the tribrid through the door and into the diner. It was decorated with neon signs and red-and-yellow furniture.
