Wolfgang sat on a stool, looking out of a window at the sky, visibly saddened. The moon was rising in the sky and Wolfgang sighed, his mind filled with memories of a brunette woman with grey eyes.
Hope approached the hunter warily, concerned as to his current state. Wolfgang looked so sad, so broken and the Mikaelson felt worry well up in her as the vampire looked at the sky as though he hated it.
"Are you okay?" Hope asked him. Wolfgang shook his head as he let out a shaky breath and turned to look at the Mikaelson.
"Today would have been her birthday." Wolfgang sighed, his voice tender and mournful at the same time. He didn't elaborate on what he meant, which confused Hope even more.
"Who?" Hope asked. Wolfgang shook his head again and took in a deep breath. To Hope, he looked suddenly vulnerable, pain filling his usually inexpressive eyes.
"Her name was Eleanor." He began, turning back to the sky as he remembered that night five years ago, "I met her in the early 2000's, she was so full of life back then. I wasn't in a good place at the time but Eleanor, she helped me through it."
Hope nodded, trying to fight the emotion she didn't recognise at the mention of this other woman. Wolfgang was opening up to her, and Hope knew that wasn't something he did, ever.
"I never told her how much she meant to me." Wolfgang sighed, "And by the time I tried, she was already married." The hunter let out a mirthless chuckle, shaking his head, "The last time I saw her, I told her exactly how I felt about her and then I walked away."
Hope bit her tongue from responding with 'It seems to be a common theme with you.' but checked herself because she knew that Wolfgang already felt guilty about leaving her.
"I went to her funeral." Wolfgang said suddenly, "I gave her bloody eulogy. And I stood there, and I looked at her children and her grandchildren, all of them happy. All I could think about how her life was so much better without me in it. She was happy, in the end, but all I ever brought her was pain."
"That's awful." Hope sighed, pulling the distraught vampire in for a hug, "But you can't beat yourself up about it." Wolfgang shook his head, pulling away from the hug and closed his eyes, letting out a deep sigh.
"I suppose it's why I got on so well with your father. We were both haunted by tragic pasts. We both suffered terrible losses. We were both cursed by love. It's what happens. Everything I care about gets destroyed." Wolfgang started. Hope opened her mouth to disagree but Wolfgang cut her off.
"Everyone I love dies." He sighed before walking away.

Hope, Wolfgang and Rafael were still trapped inside of the gym. Hope was leaning against a sawhorse while Rafael paced around anxiously, obviously feeling guilty for what Lizzie must perceive as Rafael standing her up.
"So, you can slay a dragon, but you can't get us out of here?" Rafael asked. Hope sighed and anxiously fretted with her bracelets.
"Only Penelope can undo the spell. Or, the twins could siphon the magic." Wolfgang defended, joining Hope by the sawhorse, twirling his daylight ring around his middle finger.
Rafael walked over to Hope and placed his hands on the sawhorse so he could lean against it from the other side, "Well, that's unlikely, seeing as Lizzie probably thinks I'm standing her up right now."
Hope, clearly unbothered by Lizzie's potential discomfort, gave Rafael a sarcastic look, "Her ego could use a little bit of deflating."
"I'm not that guy, okay? I don't forget about people." Rafael spat, it was obvious by the tone of his voice that he was not amused by Hope's comments about Lizzie. Hope frowned, not understanding why he was getting so emotional about this.
