tsukki pov:

I hadn't spoken to Yamaguchi since he got annoyed at the start of lunch. He's been gone from this lesson for over 15 minutes.. what is he doing?

On queue, Yamaguchi walked into the room, the usual bounce in his step was gone. His eyes were completely hooded and a glossy shade of red.

Was he crying?

No.

He started fiddling with his rings- his tell for when he's high.

Why is he high right now? And why didn't he answer any of my messages?

I brought out my phone to text him again before I heard an, "I'll have that, thankyou." from my teacher.

Fuck.

Flipping to the end of my exercise book, I scrawled a quick 'Are you high?' and ripped the corner out, passing it backwards so it was passed to him.

Minutes later, I got back an, 'a little bit yea'
I wrote back, 'Why do you keep doing these shitty things??'
He wrote, 'stop passing notes ur gonna get urself in trouble'

I sighed, just one more...
'Are you really leaving the team?'
'prolly idk, dont send anything back.'

I scoffed at the last part. Why was he being like this?

It rolled around to the end of the final class and I stared at Tadashi for a second before leaving the room.

Why wait up? He won't go to practice anyway.

I made it to practice and immediately got an, "Is Tadashi not coming too?" thrown at me.

"Probably not." I responded, going into the changing room.
I didn't mention the thing about Tadashi wanting to leave the team, it wasn't my place. Maybe if I don't say it, it won't happen.

(timeskip after practice)
As soon as I stepped out of the school building, ready to walk home. I spotted Tadashi sitting by the curb, smoking something.

I sighed and walked towards him.

"What are you doing here? It's half past 5." I spoke.
"Waiting for my bestest friend in the whole wide world so we can walk home together?" he replied in an obvious manner, standing up.

"Right."

"Training camp is tomorrow." he spoke pointedly.

"I thought you wanted to leave the team? Are you still going to go to the camp after all that complaining you did about volleyball?"

"I don't know what I want. In that moment I hated volleyball, I just needed some time away from the topic. I'll go to the training camp- if I don't like it I'll get a train back home or something, I can manage myself."

I just looked at him, noticing the dark circles under his eyes that he tried to cover with smudged eyeliner and I breathed out a, "barely" before turning the corner to go to my own home.

"Bye Tadashi."

"Bye Tsukki!" he responded cheerfully.

As soon as I got home, I collapsed onto my bed. I didn't want to pack, or do homework, or revision or anything. I was exhausted. Since when did school get so exhausting?

I scrolled through Instagram and looked at peoples new posts, liking every other post that I scrolled past out of habit. I was getting bored.

After undressing and changing into comfortable wear, I went downstairs for dinner.

"How was school?" my mother asked, putting a plate in front of me.

"Fine. Normal." I answered, "Training camp is tomorrow."

"That's exciting!" she smiled, "Isn't that right honey?" she asked, turning to my dad.

"That's cool. I hope you've finished packing." my dad asked.

"Uhh, almost." I lied. I hadn't even started. My suitcase was in my room, completely untouched.

"May I excuse myself? I should probably get that done now." I asked, finishing my plate. I hated dinner small talk, it was so pointless.

"Sure sure, go on love!" my mother said, dismissing me.

I tossed my empty plate into the dishwasher and went up to my room to pack.

I wonder what Tadashi's doing right now...

Meanwhile, at Yamaguchi's home:
(yamaguchi pov)

"Answer me right now!! Who the HELL do you think you are? Staggering into MY home, a drunken mess like this!!" my mom yelled at Daisuke.

"Shut the fuck up this house does not belong to you! Who works to pay the rent? Who earns more??" Daisuke yelled back.

"I would be earning more than you if I wasn't fired from my previous job because I was pregnant with your fucking child!! Do you want to pop a baby out of YOUR body before telling me that I make less money than you??? I raise that child way more than you ever could!!!" she shouted, I felt that one in the walls.

I'm definitely gonna go to that training camp.

Packing my stuff quickly and not very efficiently, I remembered to pack a stash of cigarettes. I'd definitely not be able to smoke anything other than a cigarette because being high whilst playing volleyball is never a good idea. Getting caught would be even worse.

I tossed two packs into my bag along with three lighters just in case they got lost. Some underwear, a few change of clothes and face wash was thrown into the suitcase, surely they'd have everything else there?

Oh a toothbrush!

Quickly sliding through the halls, I rummaged through the bathroom cabinets and found an unused spare toothbrush and made a mental note to buy another one later.

"Tadashi, dinner is ready!!!!" Daisuke yelled.
"Not hungry!" I yelled back, slipping back into my room and shutting the door.

To be honest, I was very fucking hungry, but eating with those two would make me lose my appetite instantly. I can't wait to move out.

I looked at the photo frame of me and Tsukki that stood on my bedside table.  This was from a while ago when life was stress free. I wish I could go back...

I cracked open my window and looked at the stars in the night sky as I lit a cigarette.

I wonder what Tsukki's doing right now...
