Yamaguchi POV:
"Good morning baby." my mom greeted, opening my curtains for me.
"Morning." I replied, rubbing the sleep out of my eyes.
She walked out of the room as I sat up on my bed, staring out of the window.
I didn't want to go anywhere, I felt like staying in my bed all day but my attendance was already low enough.I looked at the suitcase beside my bed and sighed.
Training camp.
I arrived at school rather on time and plugged my earphones in, putting my head down on the table. We didn't leave for training camp until 8:00 and it was 7:30. 30 whole minutes of extra sleep.
"Tadashi! Hey!" I heard Hinata's voice.
"Hi Shō." I spoke, not moving an inch.
"Did you not sleep well last night? Are you feeling okay?" he asked, his voice sounded even nearer.
"I'm fine, just a bit tired." I replied, "Let me know when we're leaving, kay?"
Hinata made a noise of agreement and I heard his footsteps retreat and let the music wash over me completely. I felt absolutely nothing, like a weight had been lifted off of me and as if I was elsewhere. Times like this feel almost as good as a high.
I wished I could feel like this forever.
Soon after, I heard my teammates voices all around me.
"I feel bad, they told me to wake them but look how peaceful they look." Hinata said in a hushed manner."They do look peaceful don't they?" Sugawara agreed.
"How can you see peacefulness when you can't even see their face?" Asahi queried. I had to stifle a laugh.
"Oh my god just wake them so we can go." I heard Kageyama's voice.
"If you're in such a rush why don't you do it?" Hinata snapped back.
Before they started bickering, their bickering was possible the worst thing on the planet, I sat up and rubbed my eyes, "I could hear everything you know."
"So your earphones weren't playing music?? They were just for show?!" Tanaka gasped.
"They were indeed playing music, full volume actually." I blinked, trying to comprehend the fact myself.
"The fact that you could hear them is crazy. You need new earphones you little eavesdropper." Tsukishima shook his head.
"Wanna be my sugar daddy and get me some then?" I stood up, raising an eyebrow at him.
The team gradually began to walk outside towards the coach, "You'll have to give me some sugar then won't you?" he spoke lowly into my ear before taking long strides to catch up with the others.
I stood there dumbfounded.
Wow Tsukki.
Tsukki 1, me 0.
When we managed to all get seated on the coach, I brought out a stick of gum at popped it into my mouth.
"Want some?" I asked Tsukishima.
He turned to me slightly and shook his head, bringing out strawberry flavoured pocky and eating one of those instead. He left the box between us to let me know that I could have some if I wanted. He wasn't too chatty on trips like this and I was kind of thankful because I wasn't in the talking mood as such but not being able to smoke on such a long journey was killing me.
Tsukki let me sit by the window though. The amount of leg room on the coach was a joke so he had to be near the aisle and sat at an angle which made me chuckle.
I changed the music I was playing to a different genre and closed my eyes as Keshi began to play. He was a Vietnamese artist who sang in English and I didn't understand a handful of the lyrics but the melody was perfect to sleep to.
🎶🎶🎶
Waking up, I noticed we had just arrived and Coach Takeda was parking the vehicle. I turned to face Tsukki who was sleeping, he was holding onto a stick of pocky.
When he wakes up I'll tease him about it.
A few minutes later the engine turned off, "We're here!" Ukai boomed.
I shook Tsukishima lightly, "Come on let's get up." I said.Incoherent words escaped his lips and he opened his eyes unwillingly.
When we were inside, Coach Takeda gave us a briefing of what to expect.
"This is your daily timetable of activities and matches we'll be doing. It includes mealtimes and the advised curfew." He spoke, handing us each a piece of paper, "As you can see we don't have any matches today because we'll mainly be settling in and unpacking, doing icebreakers and networking with other teams, and touring around the building."Most people gave satisfied nods and we all whispered amongst ourselves.
"Four team building sessions a day!" Tanaka bursted out, creating commotion.
"Quieten down everyone! As you can see, you do have a requirement of two matches a day. A morning match and an afternoon one. Aside from that you have been given quite a bit of flexibility on what you can do, allowing for the four daily team building sessions to take place. You must attend a minimum of two out of four to attend but you can choose which ones you want to attend. They're all 30 minutes each and will be with the other teams that are here." Coach Ukai spoke.
"That's a lot of socialising." Tsukki mumbled.
Once we had gotten settled into our rooms we were allowed free time for half an hour before the first icebreaker session with another team. We hadn't been told who the other team were so Hinata decided it would be a great idea to suss out the competition.
Most of the others agreed with him and I took the opportunity to slip a cigarette and my lighter into my pocket and mumbled something about going on a walk.
I found a giant oak tree and sat underneath it, pulling the items out of my pockets and I struggled to light my cigarette. The lighter I brought was almost out of fluid. What were the chances?
I slipped the cigarette behind my ear and started rubbing the plastic from the lighter between my fingers, hoping for the heat energy caused by the friction to be enough to condense the gas within it into a liquid. This has only worked on two occasions out of seven and I learned to start bringing two lighters everywhere.
Worst comes to worst, if this doesn't work, I'll go back to my room to get the other lighter.
"Ya need some light pretty boy?" A voice spoke, nearing the spot I was at.
It was Suna.
"Thankgod you showed up, I would've had to give up and go back to the dorms to get my other one." I replied, putting the cig between my lips.
He pulled out a lighter before sitting down, leaning towards me he carefully lit it up and I nodded in appreciation.
Through hooded eyes, he watched as I took a drag and upon exhaling I asked, "Are you high?""A little bit." he nodded, "We don't ave matches, just some icebreaker shit so it's fine."
"True." I noted.
"I wanted to apologise for how things went down the other day. Giving yer friend all that shit wasn't cool n it shouldn't ave happened." he spoke after a little while.
I glanced at him and his noted his genuine facial expression.
"Mhm, it's cool though. He told me he asked. I didn't really expect it so I got a bit mad and I shouldn't have."
"Cool." he nodded, "I'm gonna head back to my dorm real quick to grab my sweatshirt, see you around Yams."
I waved as his figure retreated.
Suna was kinda hot.
