Yamaguchi's POV

The party had been a bit too loud, but when I stepped away from the crowd to grab a drink, I spotted Suna walking back, a slightly smug look on his face. My heart sank. Something felt off.

"Hey, where's Tsukishima?" I asked.

"He's around," Suna said, nonchalantly. "You might want to check on him though."

"What do you mean?"

"Just that he and I had a bit of a chat... things got heated," Suna replied in an amused manner.

I narrowed my gaze, suddenly feeling anxious. "What happened?"

Suna shrugged. "Nothing much. Just a little disagreement. You should probably talk to him."

I could feel my stomach tightening as I pushed past Suna and headed toward the edge of the camp. I'd known Tsukishima long enough to recognise when he was upset, and I couldn't shake the feeling that something serious had gone down. As I got closer to the dim light of the trees, I heard voices- one of them unmistakably Tsukishima's.

"Yeah he was being an asshole, he deserved that punch."

I stepped closer to them, "Tsukki, did something happen between you and Suna?"

He hesitated, his gaze flickering to Kageyama before back to me. "Just a stupid fight. Forget about it."

But I couldn't. "You know I care about you, right? Was he bothering you or-"

"I said it's nothing!" Tsukishima snapped at me. I took a step back, feeling confused and kind of hurt by his tone.

"Okay, but if you want to talk..." I trailed off, unsure of what else to say. I could see the struggle in his eyes. I knew him well enough to understand that beneath the anger, he was hiding something.

"Just go back to the party, Tadashi," he said, his voice softer now, but the edge was still there. "I'll be fine."

"I'm not leaving you here if you're upset..." I insisted, "Just tell me what's really going on Tsukki."

He sighed, running a hand through his hair. "It's complicated alright..."

Kageyama stepped back, sensing the tension between us, and said, "I'll let you two sort this out." He walked away, leaving me alone with Tsukishima.

"Tsukki..." I said softly, my heart racing.

He took a deep breath and met my gaze. "Fine. You want to know what's really going on?"

I nodded.

"I'm jealous," he admitted, the words rushing out as if they had been held back for too long. "Jealous that Suna gets to be close to you while I'm just... here."

My heart stopped. "What? Tsukki, you don't have to be-"

"No, listen!" he cut me off, his voice rising in intensity. "I can't help it! I see you laughing with him, and it drives me insane. I hate that I feel this way, but I do."

I didn't know what to say.

"It's just, I've never cared about anyone the way I care about you," he said, his voice trembling slightly. "I don't want to see you with him. I don't want to lose you."

I blinked, stunned into silence. "You... care about me in that way?"

He looked away, cheeks tinged pink, "I do. More than I've ever wanted to admit. But you make it so easy for everyone else to be drawn to you. It's frustrating."

"Tsukki, I-"

"No, let me finish." he urged, frustration mingling with vulnerability. "You flirt with Suna, and it's like you don't see how much I like you." He stopped, his words hanging in the air.

"Tsukki, I didn't mean to make you feel like that," I said, moving a little closer, "I didn't realise..."

"Exactly," he said, his voice quieter now, filled with uncertainty. "I'm not good at this. I don't want to fight, but I don't want to just stand by and watch."

"Then don't," I said, my voice steady. "I'm here. I want to be here with you."

He looked up, surprise flickering in his eyes. "You do?"

"Of course I do," I said, a warmth spreading through my chest. "You mean a lot to me, Tsukki. I want you to know that. I didn't mean to hurt you."

He sighed, his shoulders relaxing slightly. "I guess I just got scared. I'm not used to feeling this way about anyone."

"I understand," I said gently. "But you don't have to be scared. We can figure this out together."

He nodded slowly,"Yeah. I'd like that."

"Then let's talk about it, alright? Just us. No distractions." I suggested.

"Yeah, alright." he said, his voice steadier now, the edge of tension beginning to fade. "I'd like that."

We stood there for a moment, the weight of the argument lifting slowly as I reached out and took his hand. The warmth of his palm against mine sent a rush of comfort through me, and I knew, despite everything, that we would find our way through this. Together.
