The practice match wasn't awful. We lost, but not by a lot. I didn't get any service aces, but I wasn't really expecting any.

After gulping down plenty of water I was met by Tsukishima.

"Where were you?" he asked.

I tilted my head slightly, "Huh, when?"

"Before the match, I wanted to check up on you after the team building session but you weren't in the dorm."

"I was in the spot I found outside, needed fresh air."

Tsukishima looked at me, "You seriously went for a smoke instead of the session?"

"Tsukki, you know it's not like that," I started.

"Then what is it like Tadashi? Why are you even here? I thought you wanted to quit the team a few days ago!" he snapped.

"What the hell is your problem?" I asked with a raised eyebrow.

Why was he acting like this all of a sudden?

"No, what is your problem? You're the one skipping for a cigarette, then you complain about not having much court time?"

"Firstly, I wasn't even smoking, I was vaping. Second of all- you think I don't know that? Why the fuck are you parenting me?" I snapped.

"Maybe because no one else fucking will, so you won't grow up!" he berated me, "You're killing yourself slowly... you need to stop this Tadashi."

"Well maybe that's what I want. And I won't grow up? What the fuck Tsukki? Not fucking cool." I said, walking off as soon as he opened his mouth.

I did not want to hear another word from him.

Some 'friend'.

"Yamaguchi where are you going? Our next match is in 10 minutes!" I heard Hinata call after me.

Ignoring him, I went straight to the locker room and started putting all my earrings back in.

"Hey what's up?" Ennoshita asked, jogging in to the locker room with Sugawara hot on his heels.

"I don't feel too good." I told them, which was true- but not in the way they thought.

That argument with Tsukki made me feel sick to my stomach.

"We'll alter the rotation okay, don't worry- just focus on getting better." Suga consoled me.

"Yeah, we'll let the rest of the team know- go get some rest." Ennoshita assured.

"Thanks guys." I said, giving them a half smile as I put my last earring back in.

As soon as they left, Tsukki walked in.

Yamaguchi rolled his eyes, "I don't wanna hear it Tsukki, leave me alone."

"I haven't even said anything yet." the boy in question defended.

"And I don't want to hear anything from you full stop." Yamaguchi glared at the boy, shoving past him.

"That's typical." Tsukishima murmured.

"What was that?" Yamaguchi asked.

"Not like you give a shit, go on- go smoke your pot with Suna. See how far that gets you." the blonde said, leaving Yamaguchi in the hallway.

Yamaguchi cursed and immediately punched the wall beside the locker room door as tears filled his eyes.

He got back to the dorm and searched through his bag, picking up the vapes, lighters and cigarette pack before walking to the trashcan at the end of the hall.

About to toss them, he heard a few voices speaking along the corridor and immediately shoved the things in his pocket, making his way back to the dorm.

He grabbed his headphones and decided to sit under the tree from earlier, to avoid running into anyone.

Upon arrival, he fished through his pockets for his phone and ended up picking up the cigarette packet first but then remembered his friends words.

"You're killing yourself slowly... you need to stop this Tadashi."

As if he gave a fuck.

Too tired to think, Yamaguchi pulled out a cigarette and lit it, smoking as his music played on full volume.

When he was done with the cigarette, he felt a wave of exhaustion come over him and he involuntarily ended up napping.

"Yamaguchi?? Are you alright?" a voice spoke loudly.
"They're obviously sleeping, stop poking them." another voice said.

It was Kuroo and Kenma from Nekoma.

Yamaguchi stirred and then woke up.

"What's the time?" he asked, taking his headphones off before rubbing his eyes.

"Geez how long have you been asleep for?" Kuroo said, "Dinner's over."

"Great." Yamaguchi sighed, standing up, but as he stood, the items in his pocket fell to the ground.

He cursed under his breath, immediately crouching to pick it all up quickly, but the duo before him had already seen it.

"Yamaguchi... I'm not one to judge but surly smoking is the last thing you wanna be doing on a sports retreat." Kuroo told him.

Yamaguchi's heart sank.

"I was gonna toss it! I just forgot." the boy defended.

Kenma looked at Yamaguchi skeptically before looking back down at his game and deciding to let Kuroo do the talking.

"You could get in serious trouble if you're caught with that stuff- you're underaged! What if it was your coach that walked up here and not me?" Kuroo asked.

"I won't be caught. This isn't usually the contents of my pockets." Yamaguchi replied.

"Please just don't be stupid about it- save that for parties only."

"Thanks for not snitching." the boy sighed.
