"Stop it. It's getting annoying."
Shim Hye-won turned to stare at her best friend's profile. As they cruised through the city, making they way home, lights and shadows took turns on his perfect face -- the perfect face that was currently scowling at her. Innocently, she asked, "Stop what?"
"That!"
Hye-won's grin widened. "You mean, smiling?" she asked, moving her face closer to his, showing him as many teeth as she can. "WEEEEEEEEEEEEE!"
"Arrrrrggggggghhh!" Kang Gook returned. "You're so annoying."
Shim Hye-won wrinkled her nose and moved back in her seat. Sighing, she recalled back to her nice dinner with Kim Seung-heon. He was a handsome man and very much a gentleman. The topics they discussed were quite safe, favorite movies and books and what they liked about work.
She had to admit she was flustered when Kim Seung-heon asked her out for coffee after meeting at the flower shop. Yoon Jin Ah and Kang Gook advised her to be careful but it was Kang Gook who would always say that the decision is ultimately hers. "Just make sure he's not a creep. I'm really not in the mood to punch someone," he joked.
Fortunately, Kim Seung-heon was a nice person and that dinner proved it. He was patient with her when she felt awkward wit her actions or answers to his questions and did his best to put her at ease. An hour into the dinner, Shim Hye-won was swooning. When she excused herself to go to the restroom, she sent a message to Kang Gook, "I'm having a wonderful time, Gookie Oppa!"
As expected, his only reply was, "Good. Tell me if I need to order more food. For your information, my bill is quite high already and you're reimbursing this."
She didn't mind.
Now, on their way home, Hye-won felt like she was still walking on clouds. "We're going out again in a few days."
"Okay. You go alone. Geesh. My butt was stuck in that seat for so long, I thought I could never get it off," Kang Gook muttered.
"What if something goes wrong?!" Hye-won asked, worriedly.
Kang Gook gave her an exasperated expression. "Call the emergency hotline! Do I look like a first responder to you? I'm not that heroic. I'm only in this for the money."
Shim Hye-won laughed, knowing how untrue his statement was. Her best friend was a hero and no one could convince her otherwise. She was lucky that he was also her own personal emergency hotline. "Hey, how much do I owe you anyway?"
"150,000 won."
"WHAT?!"
"That's for 4 hours of my night rate, food and coffee, gas and use of my car," he enumerated. "I have receipts in case you want to check."
