a short chapter wherein jungkook takes care of his sick five-year-old sister.
"i don't want to . . ." you rolled over to your side, back facing jungkook who's holding medicines for your fever. but five-year-old jungwon is being hard-headed. you have always hated medicines. it's bitter, very bitter. you know that it helps you get better so that you don't feel all sweaty and hot, but why does medicines have to taste that way? can't they sell sweeter ones that are way more suitable for kids' taste buds?
"uno, you have to. you're burning up, i'll have to bring you to the hospital if your fever won't go down. you've been sick for three days, princess."
you frowned and whined, "but those taste bad and ew-y, jungkookie! i don't want to drink those. it makes me feel sick."
jungkook sighed, "cuddles and hugs if you drink this. if you don't, no cuddles for a week."
you whined even more. you have always loved jungkook's cuddles. they're warm, plus his cuddles are the best! nothing can ever beat it, even your mom's cuddles, or your dad's. his cuddles were different. maybe it's the way his body radiates so much warmth, or the way you feel safe in his arms. it's something that you couldn't describe into words, but it's one of the best things in the world.
"but jungkook . . ."
he shook his head, "nuh-uh, uno." you pouted but sat up as jungkook poured the right amount of medicine on the medicine measuring cup before handing it to you. your pout got deeper as you smelled the medicine, bitterness lingering and hiding behind the sweet scent of the medicine.
closing your eyes, you drank the medicine in one shot as the bitter taste of the medicine struck every corner of your mouth. you scrunched your nose and made a disgusted face that made jungkook chuckle as he handed you a glass of water that can hopefully wash out the bitterness in your mouth.
"take a nap, i'll be back in a bit. do you want anything?"
"dino nuggets, please." jungkook smiled as he watch you tuck yourself in under the warm duvet. with a smile still plastered on his lips, he walked up to you, careful to not step on the stuffed toys and lego blocks scattered around his bedroom floor, he pressed a kiss on your forehead. he did felt how warm your forehead is on his lips and that made him worry more. you haven't been sick this bad ever since you were born so it's highly concerning for him.
he asked for seokjin's opinion, considering the fact that seokmin, his son, tends to get sick easily as well. seokjin said that it might be a seasonal flu or whatever that is — that you probably caught it due to the sudden weather change because of the seasons changing. it's going to be winter soon!
turning the monitor on that allows him to view what you're doing while he's away on his phone, he dimmed the lights and closed the door behind him. grabbing his car keys, he made sure to lock the doors so that he's assured that you're safe while he's gone to grab the goods. he knows it's probably not a good idea to leave you alone in the apartment while you're sick but that's the struggle of living without the guidance of your parents (they're gone most of the time due to business trips and company things).
but living that way for years now, jungkook became used to it. and he knows that he's the only one that you can rely on. and as your brother, jungkook wants to make sure that you're safe and warm under his care.

"why don't they accept black cards? i don't like using cash . . ." jungkook pouted as he punched in the code of the apartment door while holding the groceries and take-aways with his other hand. once the door beeped and it it unlocked, he pushed the door open with his foot as his hands are now occupied with two grocery bags and one plastic bag of chinese take-away food.
