wherein jungkook is a single father, struggling to make the ends meet.

disclaimer: this is kind of like a spin-off of the dada chapter — explanation in the end !

"i can help you, jungkook. i'm not just a stranger, i'm your brother—you have six brothers who can help you, gguk-ah." jungkook sighed as he threw his head back so that it can rest on the headrest of the couch. he's tired — exhausted, after coming home from his two jobs that keeps him and his little girl going.

jungkook never thought that life would be this way. it was so fucking hard, doing three jobs — a taekwondo coach in the morning, a barista in the afternoon until six o'clock and lastly, a father of a ten-year-old at night.

and out of all those jobs, being a father is what he loves and enjoy the most. you're the sweetest daughter anyone could ask for. you make coffee for him after coming home from work, massages his shoulders whenever you see him rotating his shoulders after coming home from work and what jungkook appreciates the most out of all your traits is you were never someone who wishes for everything you want and knows that to prioritize first.

"we're fine, hyung. i promise that i'll reach up to you when we badly need it. but for now that we can still keep up—save it for you and your family, jin hyung." seokjin sighed at the other end as he nodded, as if jungkook can see him. he wanted nothing but to help his youngest brother because he knows that all he wanted ever since he was young was to give his family a good life where they'll face no big problems — just them, having the time of their lives as a family.

the moment the call ended, jungkook placed his cracked outdated and barely working phone down on the table before leaning down and covered his eyes with his palms. without him knowing, tears rolled down his cheeks as the heaviness in his chest grew heavier and heavier with every tears that cascaded down his cheeks.

it was getting harder and harder for him everyday. everyday, he would wake up and look at the bright sky and ask himself whether this day will be a day where he'll find himself that he's alive and awake. he'll question the meaning of his existence and what his purpose is — but when he's just about to step on the wrong path, he'll see himself smiling as you wrap your arms around his shoulders and greet him a lovely good morning with a peck on his lips.

and that was it, that's the meaning of his existence. his little girl is why he's still alive and kicking every morning.

"dad? i'm home!" jungkook immediately wiped his tears away and placed a smile on his lips before walking towards the front door as he caught you taking your shoes off.

"dad!" you greeted him with a smile as he bent down and gave you a hug that made you giggle. you're already ten-years-old and kids your age hates being affectionate to their parents but you were the opposite because you have always loved affection. your father is the only one left in your life so you told yourself that you'll always be a kind daughter to him and make him feel that his efforts are paying off.

you're not naive, of course you're aware of your life situation so you have always tried your best to help in every way possible. secretly, you're selling cookies at your school so that you can earn money — the money goes to your piggy bank that gets heavier day by day. you want to buy your father a monitor so that he can create music which he have always loved ever since.

"how's your day, princess?" he lifted you up in his arms as you smiled at him, "good! i got a perfect score at my exam today!"

you were all smiles as your father carried you to the couch and placed you down. you zipped your bag open and took out the graded exam paper from your bag and handed it to him with a proud smile. jungkook sat in front of you and smiled when he saw the big red mark saying 100 on the top right part of the test paper — proud is an understatement.
