Dr Steward passed by the hospital as requested by Marina and took everything he needed concerning Kai after showing a paper that he was his private doctor assigned by Chelsea, he also took an MRI, X-ray and a blood sample to help him in his quest. The job was pretty easy since he was super famous and everyone wanted to please him including the hospital manager.
Dr Carter passed by later when all of Kai's family were standing in front of the room, it was the time to test his brain functions ..
Dr Carter: "Good evening everyone, I know this is going to be hard but I must evaluate his brain functions to see if there is any hope .. so while I do just that may you please wait downstairs and I will come to you once I am done"
They were all too scared to say anything, they just walked away quietly to the waiting room while Dr Carter and nurse Lisa went in.
Dr Carter: "Hi there Kai, I really hope you will be giving us better responses today .. I will put this EEG cap and see how your brain responds to different sounds .."
Dr Carter waited quietly to see the signal, he observed closely for any change at all, any increase from yesterday but there was nothing.
Dr Carter: "Shit (looking down)"
Lisa: "Poor boy ... should I remove the cap?"
Dr Carter: " No let's wait a bit"
He knew that the results won't change, but he was dreading the fact that he now have to tell such news to his family.
He went to remove the cap, placing his hand on Kai's shoulder afterwards patting it.
Dr Carter: "I will go tell them"
Lisa smiled sadly at him with teared eyes and followed him downstairs.
Dr Carter entered the waiting room, he asked everyone to sit down before sitting in front of them ..
Dr Carter: "Okay, so I did the test and even waited an extra time for any response but ... his brain functions didn't improve at all ... this of course is a very bad sign .. we should wait 48 hours from the incident to be sure, but right now all the signs are pointing towards him never regaining consciousness ... I am so sorry"
Everyone started to hug each other crying at the doctor's words .. Lea, Kai's sister, was the first to break the silence covered by sobs
Lea (crying): "but at least you will try again tomorrow right?"
Dr Carter: "yes .. but you should know that the odds are quite slim.. maybe a 1 in a 1000"
Lea: "Yeah they told us the same thing when he was young .. that the chance of him being a professional is a 1 in a 1000 .. I believe he can do it twice, you know"
Dr Carter wasn't able to reply, he treated lots of comatose patients and in these cases it always end in a disappointment, so he just nodded with a smile and left the room quietly before breaking down into tears himself .. this was the worst part of the job, having to deliver such news especially if the patient is young .. he went outside the hospital, sat in the fresh air to freshen up a bit. Few moments later, Dr Carter rang TT up to tell him the news...
Dr Carter: "Hey Mr Tuchel, you asked me to tell you the results ..."
TT (his heart pounding fast and hard against his chest): "yeah .. what is it?"
Dr Carter: "unfortunately ... there is no sign of improvement at all .. we will try again tomorrow but everything is pointing to the worse outcome"
TT remained silent for moments on the other end
Dr Carter: "Mr Tuchel ?"
TT: "yes, just trying to take it in"
Dr Carter: "I am sorry, we really did the best we could"
TT: "Thank you Dr .. I must go now"
TT sat in his office for 30 minutes staring at the wall without a flinch, he couldn't accept Dr Carter's words ..
TT (thinking): does that mean Kai is dead? .. it can't be .. he was just playing with us yesterday, but no .. no .. Kai is very strong and that he always impresses when you expect it the least. I mean he must come back .. right?
