The Kai Havertz Dilemma

A Slip

Few days later, Kai's family was back in Lodon but had yet to drop by the hospital.

Kai was getting much better. He still sometimes cries in his sleep, but overall he started to regain some of his strength back. The oxygen mask was replaced by a nasal cannula. They stopped some of the drugs that were causing the nausea. The doctor even told him he would try giving him some actual food through his NG tube for the first time today. They asked Kai to try walking as well, but he was totally terrified to do this again after what happened last time.

Sophia: "Sweetie, you can't just say no every time they tell you you should try to walk."

Kai (with his phone in hand and his back to Sophia): "I am not ready."

Sophia: "I am with you this time. Nothing will happen, I promise." Kai:

"I know.. but I think I am too tired to do it right now."

Sophia: "We are giving random excuses now, aren't we?"

Kai (tilting his head back and smiling at her): "Yup."

Sophia: "Your puppy eyes won't work on me this time, and Kai Havertz, you are going to try tonight.. The doctors said it is risky, you might get blood clots if you remain in bed."

Kai: "Okay, then I am going to sleep."

Sophia: "Not happening."

Kai was about to object when they were interrupted by the one and only Mason Mount, who decided to pass by before training to see Kai.

Mase: "Well, it appears that I arrived at the wrong time."

Sophia: "Hello Mase, your friend here doesn't want to get out of bed."

Kai: "Yes, it is comfortable."

Sophia: "Kai, you are starting to get on my nerves. Stop acting like a kid."

Mase: "Hey.. calm down.. Kai, may you specify a certain time when you will get out of bed?"

Kai: "in the near future"

Sophia: "See..."

Mase: "It's okay.. when exactly in the near future?"

Kai: "You guys are really annoying, and yes, I am scared to walk again because last time I ended up bleeding the hell out on the floor."

Kai was starting to tear up, which made Mase and Sophia feel even worse. Sophia approached him, spooning him on the bed.

Sophia: "It's okay. I am sorry, I am just worried it is as bad as they are saying and I don't want any other incidents. "

Kai (still crying): "I know, but just wait please, I really can't right now."

Sophia: "Okay sweetie, I will ask them what they can do concerning this."

Mase was observing quietly when he got a call from Chilly. He opened the speaker to let Chilly talk to Kai in an attempt to lighten the mood.

Mase: "Hey, bro, are you in training yet?" "You know who I am with right now" (approaching Kai)

Chilly: "Yeah, I am at training but everyone is sitting in front of the TV watching the trial and Kai's mother is literally terorizing Chelsea's lawyers and whom are you with? Don't you have training as well?"

Mase and Sophia were frozen by what Chilly said on the speaker. There was no way Kai hadn't heard that.

Kai (raising himself up in bed): "What on earth is he talking about? What trial with mum and Chelsea? "
