Kai opened the door to be met by Chilly, Reecey, and Timo. They were surprised to see Kai at Mason's and even smiled at first, but the expression was reversed immediately when the poor guy threw himself at them, crying in their arms.
Chilly: "OMG Kai, what the hell is wrong?"
Kai: "I ... I ..."
Reecey: "It's okay, take your time ... we are right here."
It took a while before Kai allowed them into the house. They heard the story from him, or as much of it as possible, given it was quite hard to understand him, head burried in the pillow, while being a crying mess.
Mase (who just woke up): "Hey guys, anything new?"
Timo: "Why the hell didn't you tell us all of that happened yesterday?"
Mase: "It was a hell of a day, Timo. We barely survived."
Timo: "Exactly, all the more reason you should have told us. We could have helped."
Chilly: "Guys, we don't need to fight right now. Kai is flinching at every high tone."
Reecey: "What are you holding, Kai?"
Kai: "It's my baby's jumpsuit."
Timo: "What?"
Reecey: "OMG .. is she?"
Kai: "Yes .. they have my babies."
Mase: "The police found it hidden in Kai's house."
Chilly: "I am sure it is only a matter of time before we have them back."
Kai: "You don't know that. You all keep saying it, but no one knows that."
Reecey: "Did you call your parents?"
Kai: "Yes, someone is supposed to come today."
Timo: "Why don't you travel to them? I think you would feel better being surrounded by your family. "
Kai: "I can't leave Sophia here and travel."
Mase: "Kai, you really need it. We are all here, the police as well if anything happens. Besides, you are not even sure if she is still in London (which made Kai wince a bit)."
Chilly: "Mason, you are making it worse ..."
Mase: "All that I meant was, you should really travel to your family right now. I called Nelson to get me your dogs. I will take care of them until you are back.
Kai: "I will think about it."
Timo: "I am going to book the flight and drop you off at the airport. You will turn crazy if you just remain here waiting."
Kai: "I think I already did."
Kai was somehow forced by his friends to board the earliest plane to his family. He didn't like the idea of leaving here. However, he couldn't deny he would very much prefer to be beside them right now. He found a text from his sister telling him she couldn't find a flight to London and to call her once he was awake, which he ignored given he would see them in a few hours anyway.
Kai got a taxi to drive him away from the airport after a flight that seemed to be taking forever, but he found himself giving the driver the address to his old house, the one he lived in while he was playing for Bayer Leverkusen. He thought he would be more comfortable there, having all of his memories with Soph in that place. He also wanted to hang the "Hi Daddy" jumpsuit he never left from his hand in a room where he held anything precious to him. His family can come over later when he has taken his time there and is ready to meet them.
It was almost half an hour of just staring at the door. Every part of this house had Soph written all over it. It was her idea to make the door with two different materials blending together perfectly in the middle. She thought it reflected the way she and Kai were. She was energetic, outgoing, and, one could argue, insane, whereas he was quiet and, in some ways, a dork.
It took forever to find the key and open the door, but he stopped when he heard some noise from inside. At first, he was hesitant to open it, but quickly did once he heard a bark. He opened the door to be quickly met by Balou. Kai couldn't believe his eyes. His mind couldn't process how or when Balou came here, but right now it didn't matter. He hugged his dog tightly, albeit quickly enough to run around calling for Sophia.
He kept searching the entire house, finding it completely empty. He was starting to give up the idea of finding her here when he remembered the basement was still left unchecked. He ran downstairs to find his fiancée cuffed to a bed, totally out. Her hands and legs were tightly tied, and her mouth had a plaster on it.
Kai ran to her quickly, trying to shake her without response. He checked her pulse, which was thankfully there, and didn't waste a second before calling an ambulance.
Kai (hugging her still figure tightly): "OMG Soph, I will kill the bastard that did that to you... please be okay honey, help is on its way and I am here. I am not going anywhere. Just hang on for me."
His mind couldn't comprehend the who, nor the why, nor the when, nor the how, nor the where of the situation, but he couldn't care less because right now he had one mission; to save his fiancée and their baby.
The ambulance came quickly and took her to the hospital. They allowed Kai to ride with her, leaving Balou in the apartment for when he comes back. Kai was holding her hand tightly, doing his best not to break down seeing her like that. The moment they arrived, they asked him to wait outside while they checked on her.
He was guided to a waiting room, but he seemed to have misunderstood the idea of waiting. He was asking about her every two seconds. Anyone who was passing by heard the story from Kai and tried to assure him that they should come back to him as soon as possible.
It felt like eternity before someone came in to ask for him. He ran to the young doctor, Jane Müller, standing just outside the room.
Kai: "Yes, I am her fiancée."
Dr. Jane: "Okay .. so she is dehydrated and extremely exhausted. She has some bruises, probably from trying to defend herself. We gave her some fluids and she almost immediately woke up. It's safe to say she will be fine. I called the police as well, and they are coming to ask her a few questions, but she wanted to see you right away when I told her you were waiting. "
Kai ran after the doctor with an involuntry smile. He couldn't believe he had her back. Nothing else in the world did matter right now. He felt the world stop the moment he met her eyes. She was smiling at him, making him forget the torture he had endured yesterday. Kai ran towards her, hugging her tightly. He couldn't help crying while showering her with kisses all over her face.
Sophia (laughing): "I am fine, I am fine. No need for all of that. "
Kai: "There is an absolute need for it. I was dying without you, Soph."
Sophia: "Me too, sweetheart."
Dr. Jane: "I think you two might want some privacy, so I should excuse myself and be back in a while."
Kai: "Oh, Dr., is the baby okay?"
Sophia (astonished): "Oh baby, you know?"
Kai smiled and held the jumpsuit up, which made her smile as well, grabbing his face to kiss him almost forgotting the well-being of their baby was in question.
Dr. Jane (with a frown): "Hold on, you are pregnant?"
Sophia: "Yes, my test came back positive a few days ago."
Dr. Jane: "You should have mentioned this as soon as you woke up, Ms. Weber. We should perform an ultrasound immediately to check on the baby. It might poison you if it remains there without life in it."
Sophia was wheeled quickly towards imaging. Kai didn't leave her hand throughout. They were both extremely worried, but kept reassuring each other it would be okay.
Luckily, they didn't have to wait long before the doctor placed the ultrasound head over the girl's belly.
~How did Sophia ended up there is a question, but there are more important things right now. Next chapter is going to be quite emotional~
