Chapter 31 - Enlightened Heat

"James! Are you apart of Aliea Gakuen then?" Kidou asked.

"Yes I am, and I believe I'm missing a member of my team."

"Missing a member?" Endou repeated.

"Yes, and he's right there." James said, pointing at, "Gouenji Shuuya."

"Gouenji!?" Endou repeated, "that's not true! He just helped us defeat Epsilon and has come back to the team!"

"And who do you think let him join you temporarily?"

"So you defeated your own ally?"

"I knew you needed Gouenji's firepower to beat Epsilon and I was getting restless at the prospect of waiting to face you. After all, you didn't quit the team so I thought I'd pay you back. Anyway, you should thank me, you wouldn't have ever defeated Epsilon otherwise and perhaps Oumihara would be a school of marine life right now."

"Gouenji, is that true?" Kidou asked.

"I'm sorry everyone." Gouenji said as he walked towards James, "but he's right."

"Gouenji......."

"We'll be seeing you soon." James said, "we'll play you at your pitch in a few days time."

Gouenji stood beside James and looked at Endou with a sad look in his eyes and the two players disappeared under a bright yellow light.

"Just how many teams are there?" Kidou asked, "we have James' team, then Prominence then Genesis at the very least."

"Who was that?" Tsunami asked.

"He played with us during the Football Frontier." Kidou said, "but he left us a while ago, after our second match against Epsilon."

"Gouenji..... he looked like he didn't want to be there but was obliged to." Endou said.

"Sitting here sulking won't help us beat his team." Hitomiko said.

"Do we even need to train?" Kogure asked, resting his hands behind his head, "James was on the same level as us so how is he suddenly above Epsilon's level?"

"........"

"Right?"

"We have to anticipate the worst." Kidou said, "James isn't dumb so we need to train right away."

"We'll head back first and you can have a day of rest before we start training." Hitomiko said.

"Where did he go!?" Hijikata asked as he ran onto the pitch.

"Who?" Endou asked.

"Gouenji."

"How do you know Gouenji?"

"Remember how I said I was keeping a footballer with me? That was him!"

"Oh, he disappeared, and what do you mean you kept him?"

"Well he said he had to hide from Aliea Gakuen because they threatened that they would kidnap his little sister if he didn't play for them so to stop them kidnapping her, he decided to hand himself in."

"Then we need to contact Detective Onigawara!"

"I've already done that." Hitomiko said, "and he said he's already investigating it."

"Never thought you'd let Gouenji off your team temporarily just to beat Epsilon." Burn chuckled.

"Are you sure you don't want it's power to help you?" Gazel asked.
