Slowly, as I recognized the voice, I opened my eyes. Kaden looked annoyed while he turned around facing Justin.
"What do you want, Belinsky?" He asked defiantly, yet there was a hint of wariness in his voice.
"That's not okay. Go away and leave her alone." He said through gritted teeth.
I was still trembling when Kaden's friends let go of me. For some reason, they listened to Justin. They just happened to do it a little too roughly, my knees meeting the floor as I fell forward.
"What? You like her or something? You wanna be her first kiss?" Kaden chuckled, the boys beside him laughed too, just not as loud as before. They looked scared, as if they knew something I didn't.
"I won't repeat myself." Justin said. "Go."
Kaden sighed and licked his lips, taking a few steps further from me. "You know, you can't always get away with it. One day I'll get you. And you'll regret it." He squinted his eyes and turned around, gesturing for the boys to follow him.
I didn't start breathing again until they were out of sight, a sob coming out of my lips. I looked at Justin thankful, but at the same time scared. I didn't know how to act or what to feel.
The green eyed boy looked at me unsure, twisting his mouth. As if he didn't wanna show that he was worried about me. "Are you okay?"
I nodded, wiping my face and standing up.
"Are you sure? You're bleeding." He looked down at my knee.
"It's just a scratch."
Justin nodded once, not really looking at my face. I think tears made him uncomfortable. Well, they didn't when he told me to leave him alone the other day. He glanced down at his feet and nodded towards the front of the school. "Do you need a ride?"
I shook my head and my voice trembled. "I can walk."
"Are you sure? I can-"
"I said I can walk." I repeated firmly, finishing to dry my face.
This time, Justin stared into my eyes. His green ones opening slightly. "Whatever you want."
I grabbed my backpack that was on the floor, it had fallen when the boys pushed me against the wall, and turned around, Justin following me slowly as I walked towards the front of the school.
I frowned as I recognized the figure that waited for me at the gate.
"Dawson?"
"Hey." He approached my figure and grabbed my bag for me. "You were taking too long, I got scared something happened."
"You did?" I asked confused. I looked around, some of the girls were still at the gate, watching us with curiosity. Some of them surprised.
"Are you okay?" He asked when he noticed I had been crying.
"Yeah, I just fell." I nodded at my knee.
"I brought my bike." He smiled. Sometimes he was weirdly friendly. I think he felt bad for me. "You won't have to walk."
I gave him a toothless smile.
"Hey." He then frowned when he saw Justin on his bike approaching us, just about to leave the school. "You're a Belinsky, right?" Justin looked at Dawson warily, his eyes piercing my bag that was now hanging in one of Dawson's shoulders. He nodded. "Your brothers and I go to the same class."
Justin nodded again before pressing his lips together and leaving the place.
"That was awkward." Dawson chuckled.
