What?
I looked up at Justin, whose eyes were wandering between Kaden and I, his expression uneasy.
"No, you won't." Kaden retorted. "I was actually gonna do it."
"You really want to kiss her?" Becky asked as if jealousy ran through her veins. She then looked at me, a diabolical smile on her face. "The rules are the rules, Kaden. The first one to claim it has to be the one to kiss her." I didn't remember that part of the rules. She turned her head towards Justin, everyone quiet around us. I was too nervous to even talk. "How cute. I knew you were into her. How do you wanna do it?"
"Closet." Justin was quick to say.
Oh my god, is this really happening?
I was too shocked to even process his words when all of a sudden he was beside me, grabbing my arm to guide me towards the closet.
"What are you doing?" I asked whisper shouting.
"Saving you." He said through gritted teeth, not looking at me. "They won't see us, Colette . I'm not actually gonna kiss you."
"Wait!" Salma yelled. "If they get into the closet, how would we know if they kiss or not?"
"Yeah! Somebody has to witness!" Another boy shouted after her.
My nostrils widened and I stared at Justin, his fingers suddenly gripping my arm a little harder than before. "You didn't think of that, huh?"
His eyes looked at me in panic mode, his face expressionless. No, he didn't.
They finally decided that in order for it to be fair, there needed to be a boy and a girl. Cassidy volunteered as a tribute. I thought she would help, but she was very determined that we ended up kissing. The other boy was one of Justin's team mates. He got randomly chosen and he was also curious about us two.
We walked slowly towards the closet, this time Justin let go of my arm. He was as nervous as me, I could feel it. We got inside what was more of a small room and turned to look at both our companions.
"I'll give you five dollars if you say we kissed." I told Cassidy.
"No way!" She huffed. "You guys are so cute, I do wanna see it. Who knows what the kiss can hold..."
"What are you talking about?" I shook my head quickly. "Cassidy, please. I'll give you my Prada bag."
The boy who, if I'm not wrong, was called Tim, rolled his eyes. "Can you guys kiss already?"
I turned my body to Justin, whose body was already directed at me. Oh god, oh god.
"Colette."
My eyes were fixed to his tie. It was red. He seemed to like red. He was really handsome in a suit. Was I really thinking that he was handsome? What was wrong with me? I was gonna kiss Justin. My first kiss. To my best friend. That wasn't that bad, was it? What if it made things awkward between us? What if I hated it? Would I blame him for ruining my first kiss? And what if I liked it? Wouldn't that be worst? Could you like a kiss but still feel nothing? Was I ready? I don't think I'll ever be ready. What if I had bad breath? What if I was the one ruining the kiss? Had he already gotten his first kiss? I don't think so. Maybe? No, that's not possible. When? With whom?
"Colette." Justin repeated. "Look at me." I did. I fixed my eyes on his green ones. They looked calm. Why was he calm? "Don't get mad, okay? I'm going to kiss you." He talked slowly, as if he was talking to a toddler. "It's just gonna be five seconds. Close your eyes."
"Why?"
"Just close your eyes." He sighed.
I closed my eyes slowly, Justin's face fading as I did so. I thought he would wait a few seconds so I wasn't expecting when his lips found mine all of a sudden. They were soft but firm, warm against my lips. They molded perfectly over mine, leaving a tingling sensation on them. The butterflies I was feeling before, came back to greet me one more time.
