Sean POV
When Amada arrived home hours later she seemed in a good mood, very happy and excited. She didn't seem nervous anymore.
"Amada, sweetheart, can I use your phone for a few minutes please?" I asked, forcing a smile on my face.
She looked confused but gave it to me anyways and I hurried back upstairs.
Opening the contact for Lana found under 'Mom' I sent her a message. If she wasn't going to respond to my text messages or 32 calls then I'm going to have to try through Amada.
A- Mom, dad told me what happened. Please will you come get me? I don't want to be here anymore.
I was nervous waiting for the reply, hoping and internally praying she would answer.
M- I can't Amada. You go spend time with your family. Don't worry about your dad and I.
A- Please mom. I don't want to. I need you.
I waited for a response but nothing came. A minute went by, then another, and another, and another. I started losing hope. But I also knew Lana and I knew she was going to respond to Amada. She always did. Just as the phone had a ding for a notification, Amada walked into the room.
"Dad, where's mom?" she asked nervously.
"Uh, she just went out for a bit" I stuttered, not sure what to say.
"Oh" was all she said, deflating. "Well when will she be back?"
And fuck why am I a sensitive person? "I'm not sure yet. In a little while probably." I lied.
She went to open her mouth but I quickly added "Go spend some time with your grandparents, Amada" so she simply nodded and left.
I pulled out her phone again to see the message from Lana.
L- Amada, I don't want this to ruin the time with your family. Whether your dad and I are together or not they are still your family.
And I felt another pang of sadness hit my chest.
A- So now what? I'm just not going to see you the rest of the trip?
L- Amada, I'm going to go home and spend Christmas with my family. You spend it here with your dads.
A- What?! This is my first Christmas with you guys and we're not even going to spend it together?
L- I love you Amada. I'm sorry we can't spend Christmas together.
A- Can I please just see you before you go so I can give you your Christmas gift?
L- Can't you just give it to me after Christmas?
A- No mom, I can't. Please? It's really important.
L- Here's the deal. I'll send you the address for the hotel I am staying at tonight but you have to promise not to tell your dad. I wouldn't usually ask you to do that but that is important to me. Okay?
I grinned, I knew she would give in. It's Amada, her baby, of course she would.
A- Okay mom. I promise.
L- Just ask your grandpa to drive you.
And then she sent me the address. I forwarded it to myself from Amada's phone, ran down the stairs, and slipped on my shoes. I hurried into the living room, giving Amada her phone back and then told them I was going out for a while and was taking the car. I grabbed the keys and got in, driving to the hotel where Lana was staying.
