Amada POV

As dad talked with the nurse after rehab, I saw Jessica, my nurse while I was here, walk by.

I went as quickly as I could -- which in reality isn't very fast since I've been a sloth ever since my surgery -- to her.

"Jessica" I called quietly, catching her attention.

She turned around, smiling at me, and meeting me halfway.

"How are you doing?" she beamed.

I smiled, "I'm great." I lied. "Have you seen Liam today?" I asked.

I had been keeping an eye out for him but haven't seen him at all since we've been here.

"Oh! Actually, he's not here today, but he wanted me to give something to you." she told me.

I felt a wave of sadness wash over me but kept a smile on my face as she went to retrieve whatever Liam had left for me.

"Amada, why'd you leave?" dad asked, rounding the corner with a sigh of relief.

"I, uh, wanted to ask Jessica something" I told him. I mean, it wasn't a lie, I did want to ask her something.

She handed me a little envelope with a smile, "Here you go."

"Thank you." I said, genuinely. Excited - and nervous - to see what he wanted to give me.

After saying goodbye we went back out to the car, heading home. To distract myself from being in the car, I opened the envelope.

On the front, beautifully written was my name, and when I turned it over there was a little bunny with a heart balloon, making me smile. I slid my finger under the seal, and opened the flap.

Slowly I pulled the card out, careful not to rip it. It was handmade, obviously by him, with a little pouting puppy drawing on the front.

I opened the card, a little paper falling out. I quickly reading through what he wrote. His hand writing is so nice.

"I am so sorry I missed your appointment. My mom bought a last minute plane ticket for me to come visit. Please forgive me. -Liam"

I grabbed the piece of paper, curious what else he wrote and found his phone number, "Truth or dare?" he wrote under it.

I sent him a quick text, "Truth."

I waited, but didn't get a response until I got home.

I had just settled on the bed when my phone starting ringing. I answered, "Hello?"

"Amada! I'm so so so sorry. I feel awful. I know I promised I'd be there." I heard as soon as I picked up.

"It's okay, Liam." I assured him.

There was jumbling on the other line. It sounded like wind was blowing in the background.

"Where are you?" I asked.

"In a tree." he replied.

"What?" I laughed.

"Well technically it's a treehouse but I wanted to talk to you, and my mom's inside." he explained.

"Okay?"

He sighed, "The whole reason I'm here is because my mom wanted me to meet her fiancée." he told me, a slightly bitter taste was lacing his tone.

"To meet him? You haven't even met him and they're engaged?" I asked, wanting him to clarify.

"One second. I'll call you back." he said suddenly and I frowned. I didn't even have the chance to respond by the time he'd hung up.
