I took off in a sprint down towards their voices.
"Amber!" Sara screamed at the top of her lungs."Sara, Taylor!" I shouted.
I could tell everyone was running after me to help. We were running so fast so hard, you could here it from a mile away.
"Help us!" Taylor shouted. "Amber hurry!"
I kept running. Not once did I look back. Up ahead I spotted Sara's pink shirt flashing. She was being supported by Taylor. When they spotted me Sara gave out a sickening scream. Their were tears streaming down Taylor's face as he fell down. When I reached them I noticed something I wish I had never seen. There was a huge chunk of flesh missing on Taylor's left leg. You could see the bone. I stopped in my tracks and could only stare. Tears slowly started to role down my face. This was all happening so fast. Everyone I knew, I loved, dying. Beth, Ethan, Rose, Liam, My parents, Lexi, all dead. Now Taylor lay on the ground becoming a zombie. I lost everything. I lost everyone. Jack pushed past me and grabbed Taylor's hand.
"Speak to me, just keep talking." Jack cried.
"Take care of the girls." Taylor told Jack giving him a gentle smile. "See you later."
I watched as everything started to disappear. My brain was telling me to shut everything out. It was telling me to forget. I could feel some hands grab onto me as I fell silently. I completely blocked the world out. My eyes closed my legs gave way and my ears zoomed out of focus. I couldn't see I couldn't hear. I could only feel the arms carrying me.
With a startle I screamed and shot up into a sitting position. There was sweat running down my face. Liam knelt down beside me and started to comfort me. For a while he sat beside me and talked about funny stories of him when he was little and good things. Then he stopped sighed and sat there.
"What happened?" He asked me.
"I-I don't know." I stuttered.
"Well, there is someone who wants to see you." He said pulling me to my feet.
We walked into the next room where Sara laid with something pressed to her. She looked up at me and smiled, motioned for me to come closer and held out her hand. I took it and she pulled me towards her. She uncovered a face in the blankets and held out a little baby.
"This is John." She said smiling proudly. "He's your new nephew, here."
She placed him in my arms and I found myself smiling down at him. He was a small boy with shot black hair. He was sleeping very peacefully. I gave out a little chuckle and we just sat there. Liam gave me a warm smile then walked out of the room. Jack appeared in with tears staining his cheeks and smiling. He sat down beside us. Jack wrapped his arm around me and kissed my head. He squeezed Sara's hand and started to silently cry.
"You know I love you." Jack whispered to me.
"And I love you too." I said placing my head on his shoulder.
I handed John back to Sara and stood up. "You and John should get some rest."
Jack and I walked out of the room and sat in the living room on the couch. We cuddled for a while. The house was empty. Half of the group was out digging a grave for Taylor, and the other half were hunting. A silent tear rolled down my cheek and hit Jacks shirt. He held me even tighter.
"I know." He said. "I know that you're in pain and so am I, I know that you want to give up, but Sara and John need you, I need you."
"Why?" I asked. "Why do you need me, we're all gonna end up dead anyway, everyone dies in the end and the end is already upon us."
"No, we will survive we will find a place to stay, we will make it out of here, we will grow old and we will live." Jack said sounding a bit mad. "Do you understand."
"Yes." I said.
He nodded and squeezed my arm. I felt safe when he held me. I felt as if nothing could get me when he held me tight. He would risk his life for me, I knew that. Jack had risked it so many times already. He would do anything he could to keep me safe. That's one of the things I loved about him. I kissed him on the cheek and then stood up.
Outside it was sunny. There was not even a single cloud in the sky. It was very warm out and for a minute I shut my eyes and took a deep breath. I could hear a faint chirping from a bird. The weather was lovely but the day was horrible. Someone put their hand on my shoulder. When I opened my eyes and turned around I expected to see Liam or Jack. Not a zombie.
