Ridding

My last period of the day was photography, which had to be my favorite class. The teacher was funny, and I made a friend Paige. She's shy, but extremely nice.

I was excited to hang out with Jonah, as long as Alice didn't try to butt in again.

Jonah picked me up from last period, grabbing my hand as we walked. "Have you ever rode a horse?" He asked as we got into his pick-up truck.

"I have lived in the city all my life, and there is no horses to ride there. So no I have not ridden a horse."

        "Well you're about to."

"Really?" I smiled, I thought it sounded fun ridding a horse.

It was only a few minute drive to his house. He came around to the passenger side, and opened the door for me grabbing my hand to help me down.

"So I'm going to have you ride Jensen, she's the calmest of the horses, and she loves people. He was stroking a beautiful horse, who must have been Jensen. He directed her, and another horse out into the open.

"Okay, put your foot up here, and hop on," He helped me up, gently.

He hopped on his like it was nothing, but he'd probably been doing it forever.

"Come follow me," He said, I tried directing the horse, and she actually did what I said.

We rode through the woods, and I must say riding the horse was one of the best feelings I had ever had.

Jonah stopped, we were in an open field. He jumped down and tied the horses to a pole in the ground, must be he came here often.

"Come sit with me," He threw out a blanket on the ground, and sat on it.

"So can I ask you something?" I asked.

        "Ya anything."

        "Where are your parents?"

"Well my mom lives with some fancy rich guy in California, and my dad left when I was born." He responded.

"Wow I'm sorry, so you just live her alone?"

"My mom sends me money every month, and visits every once in awhile."

"That's terrible, why don't you go live with her?"

"I cant leave this place, its my home, its where I want to raise my kids. Plus I could never leave my horses, they're like family to me."

"I've never had animals, and I've moved around so much, I don't even know what home is. So I cant say I know how you feel."

"What did your parents do for work?"

"My mom was a lawyer, and my dad well truthfully I don't know what he did."

        "Can I ask what happened?"

What happened? Id been asking myself this question for the past few months. What the hell happened to the happy family we use to be?

"My dad got sick, and he shot my mom, then shot his self. And I was the one who had to find them dead on the floor," tears started falling down my face, I never told anyone that before, because everyone I talked to already new what happened, but saying it out loud made it so much more real.

"I can't even imagine," I laid my head on Jonah's lap as he stroked my hair trying to calm me down.

        "Thank you," I told him.

        "For what?"

        "For being here for."

"I will always be here for you."
