(Nixon's POV)"Are you ready?" Zayne asked me, as we pulled up to my house and stopped at the gates. He looked at me with a guarded smile, like he's happy to have me home but nervous to see how I'll deal.
It's been over a week since I woke up from my coma, and to be honest, I was in denial a little bit up until Kadynce showed me all the photos of family events that I missed.
I realized that I will never get that time back.
I'll have to wait until next year to celebrate Halloween and Thanksgiving with my kids. I'll have to wait for our next kid in order to celebrate their life through a baby shower.
I missed a lot.
But instead of dwelling on what I can't change, I decided to focus on what I can. I'm looking forward to Christmas and New Year's, it'll be the first one I get to celebrate as a father.
A father of four.
Gosh, life is about to get hectic.
"I'm as ready as I'll ever be." I sighed, nervous to see everyone, especially Nikki. I watched him put in a six-digit code into the touchpad. After that, the machine beeped and spoke; Access Granted. The screen even greeted him, it read: Welcome, Zayne. I was taken aback. "How does the machine know who you are?" I questioned.
Zayne chuckled. "It's my personalized PIN, everyone has their own." He explained to me. "It alerts Red with a text, telling her specifically who is coming through the gates."
I'm impressed, Kadynce really thought of everything.
Sighing, I couldn't wait to see my family.
Kadynce was able to leave the hospital a few days after having the twins, I had to stay. We both decided that it was better to keep me a secret than to everyone because we didn't want it to get around to the kids.
When Kadynce and the girls left, I didn't know when I would be able to go, and I didn't know what to do with myself. Dr. Nguyen couldn't give me a definite answer, and I didn't want to disappoint Nikki and Jase. Plus, I had to stay longer to start my Physical Therapy, it's been helping a lot with my shoulder but not so much with the walking.
I get frustrated a lot.
Kadynce and I have been in communication ever since she left. She got Zayne to bring my phone so I could FaceTime her whenever. I stayed on the phone with her during the night, so when she wakes up for the twins, I wake up too.
I'm glad that she has her Nana to help her while I'm away. Mikki is also there to help, she ended up coming a week early because the babies showed up.
Mitch is still there too but he doesn't exactly help out with the babies, he helps with Nikki and Jase a lot though. I've talked to him a few times in the past week, but only through Kadynce's phone. He's not in the house much since he moved out to the guest house in the back.
My stomach twisted in knots as Zayne and I drove up the driveway, towards the back of the house. I almost forgot how big this place was, I'm sure I'll be even more amazed once we get inside.
He parked us right in front of the garage doors, before getting out. In the side mirror, I could see Jesse and Drix come out the side door to the kitchen.
The snow was piled up on the ground, it looked like a Winter Wonderland back here. There was a path on the pavement, it was shelved, and it led to the main backdoor; the middle of the house. I'm glad they're taking me through this door and not the one they just came from.
I remember the house, plus, everything was refreshed when Kadynce showed me all of those surveillance videos.
It's currently 9:47 am on Sunday, the kids are still asleep and Kadynce wants me to sneak in before they wake up. Hopefully, it all works out, I don't want to disappoint her or the kids.
