(Kadynce's POV)
It's been three long, delightful weeks since I found out that I was pregnant.
Long because I haven't told Nixon that I'm pregnant, and I know the more I wait to tell him the worse it's gonna be when I do. Plus, morning sickness is getting harder to hide. And delightful because ever since we made love everything between us has been equivalent to a beautiful fairytale. And Nixon has been less paranoid than usual, which I'm ecstatic about.
Sometimes when we're together as a family I feel like I'm dreaming because I've dreamt of a life like this so many times before when I was with Jake that it's hard to believe that it has come true.
It just makes me want the absolute best for my kids. I want them to know who they are and who they came from. I want this to know their family, all their family. Which is why I'm here where I am.
Jase deserves every part of my family as well as Jake's. Even though I'm not okay with Jake, it doesn't mean that I still don't want Jase to know Jake's parents and his Uncle Mitch. I didn't want Jase to lose his relationship with his other grandparents. When we visited for Ricky's wedding Jase didn't take to his parents easily, but when he finally did, it was beautiful.
Jake's parents love him.
Plus, I know Jake's parents; they're nice people. And they love my son; their only grandchild. They asked me very nicely to bring Jase over for a visit, they miss him. Mitch has yet to meet his nephew because he lives out of state, but I hope one day he'll come down to visit him.
I'm sure Jake didn't tell Mitch, they don't talk anymore, but I'm sure their parents clued him in.
Knocking at their door, I was nervous as I held Jason in my hip. I hugged him close to me. I haven't been here since Jake was with me when we came down for Ricky's wedding.
He's not exactly mean to his parents, and while we all spent time together he wasn't even mean to me. He was smiling and laughing with them, with us, something I have not seen in an exceptionally long time. It almost made me forget everything that he has done to me over the years, but once we got back in the car it was business as usual; he was still his cold and evil self.
It was a little while before the lock clicked and the door swung open. "Kady?" Jake's dad, John, stood on the other end of it with a smile.
"Hey, John." I gave him a small smile, nervous. Even though I hated to be around him, it felt weird to be here without Jake.
Jason then noticed him. "Grandpa!" He smiled at John, reaching for him.
I'm glad that Jase remembered his Grandpa John.
"Hey, little buddy!" John was genuinely happy to see his grandson as he grabbed him from my arms. "Come on in, Kady."
Smiling, I stepped in and closed the door behind me.
"Johnny, who's that at the door?" Jake's mom, Mae, called from upstairs, coming out of their bedroom.
Looking over the stairs, I met her eyes as I looked up. "Kady!" She delighted, looking at Jase in her husband's arms. "Jason! Aww, I'm so glad that you both could make it."
"Hi." I smiled and waved as she descended the stairs. "Sorry, we're a little early. Our errands didn't take as long as expected."
Pulling me into a tight hug, she rubbed my back in comfort. "Well, we are glad to see you both." She smiled, pulling back before cooing over Jason. Her eyes were twinkling with excitement, I can tell that she was happy to see us.
Leading us to the family room, Mae offered Jase and me some cookies as we sat down on the couch. They cooed over their grandson for several minutes before we all sat back and relaxed.
