(Pierce's POV)

"Mr. Pierce." I heard my room door open. I looked to see a male nurse standing in my doorway with a huge cart full of food trays. He grabbed one from one of the racks and brought it to me. "I have your breakfast." He smiled.

He's right on time too because I'm starving.

I haven't been able to eat like I want so I've been starving like crazy.

Sitting up in my bed, I adjusted my IV tubes as they were caught in my blanket. "What are we having?" I groaned in pain, breathing deeply, fighting through it.

Setting it on the rolling table next to my bed, he slid it over to me and adjusted the height before lifting the lid to show the food. It didn't look too good, but at least it was still hot as I could see the steam coming from the eggs, sausage, and oatmeal. "The works; eggs, sausage, oatmeal, and a cream cheese bagel with milk and orange juice."

I'm so hungry that I plan to eat everything on this tray no matter the taste.

"This looks great." I tried hyping up the food to make the eating process more pleasant. "Thanks, man."

"You're welcome." He smiled, leaving.

Using my left hand, I grabbed my ice pack and placed it on my right shoulder. My doctor said that I need to rotate the ice on my injuries to help with the swelling. I switch the ice between my face, shoulder, wrist, and fingers.

The fingers hurt the most; I'm enduring so much pain.

I wish it would just stop or I wish I had something else to help me through it.

And I hate the way pain meds make me feel but I hate the pain more, so I gave in and had them start me on Hydrocodone. That, working together with the IV is enough for now. But I know once I go home, I'll feel worse.

After situating my ice packs, I began eating, I scarfed down my eggs, sausage, and oatmeal. The eggs and sausage were actually good, but the oatmeal was disgusting and flavorless. It had no sugar, no milk, and no butter; just hot water and tasteless oats.

I was struggling with cream cheesing my bagel when I heard a knock at the door. Whoever it was didn't wait for me to answer, they just opened it. I hoped it to be Kadynce.

Visiting hours started about 30 minutes ago and even though I hoped she'd walk in the door as soon as it began, I knew it wouldn't happen because she has the kids to care for first.

They are always first before either one of us.

"Knock, knock." I heard a familiar voice coming through my door. It was familiar but it wasn't the voice I wanted to hear. Peeking in first, she smiled when she saw me as she ran over to me and tried to hug me. "Oh my gosh, Kol!" She cried.

"Roxy, don't." I warned her quickly as I put my bagel down and braced myself for the impact. "Don't touch me."

Why would she even think about hugging me?

She stopped mid hug. "I'm sorry." Roxy stepped back with her hands up, her green eyes apologetic. "I'm just so happy to see you."

"Speaking of seeing me..." I trailed off, knowing that Kadynce is not going to like this. "What are you doing here? You could have seen me when I got home."

Roxy frowned. "Kadynce and her family wouldn't let me come up last night." She continued. "Only one person was allowed and Kadynce decided it to be her."

"Because she's my girlfriend, Rox." I don't understand how she would believe that it's appropriate for her to see me if only one person was allowed up. "The mother of my children. I would expect her to be the only one coming up."
