First Day of School!

I stared at myself in the mirror, brushing out my very light brown, almost blond hair that I had straightened last night after it dried.

Phoenix Drop was an interesting name. Definitely different from Bublin. At least the move meant I wouldn't have to go to a top ten school, I could barely handle school the way it was.

I set the brush in my bag and looked at myself, making sure everything was smoothed out and my makeup looked okay. My parents were at work, they had to leave early in the morning and I had to get myself to school.

I stepped into my shoes and slung my bag over my shoulder, grabbing my phone that was on the tv stand as well before turning off the lights of my bedroom and walking out, shutting the door behind me.

I walked down the stairs, hearing barking as I did. I stepped over the baby gate my dad and step mom had placed and bent down as two small dogs came to my feet and jumped up.

I pet them both gently, looking at the third dog, who I was pretty sure didn't like me very much, and waved to her. I thought for sure she was going to warm up to me after I moved in with them but that hasn't happened yet.

I smiled as I looked down and saw our black cat brush her tail against my leg. "Okay, I have to go now." I said to the many animals before heading to the alarm and setting it. The small timer appeared and I walked to the front door, making sure none of them were crowded around my feet before unlocking it and leaving the house.

The door locked on it's own so I just put the other strap on my shoulder and began walking to the bus I was supposed to take.

After a few minutes of walking, I got to the public bus stop and waited like everyone else, scrolling on my phone as I waited. 'Oh, she's pretty.' I thought as I looked through my instagram feed and liked the picture before hearing the bus pull up.

I pulled my bus pass out of the waist band of my skirt and got in line somewhere near the front.

When I stepped on, I flashed him my pass for a moment before finding a seat.

For the duration of the ride to my school's area, I just went on my phone. I had at some point dug out my earbuds and went on the app I used for music.

They gonna clean up your looks
With all the lies in the books

I looked up as I felt the bus come to a stop and sat up straight before standing up all together. I walked through the bus, trying my best not to touch anyone. I didn't like even accidental contact with people I didn't know. And I didn't know anyone here. Especially not on this bus.

I stepped off and quickly got out of the way as busy looking adults got off the bus. I hummed along to my music as I looked at the school close by before swallowing my nervousness and walking towards it.

'Swallowing my nervousness' didn't help at all with the anxious butterflies, more like moths, I was feeling.

I walked up the stairs carefully, staring at my feet. I was known by the town I lived in when I was with my mom to be very clumsy.

I looked up when the stairs stopped and walked over to the fountain, sitting myself down on the ledge.

I swung my feet a bit, being careful to not fall into the water. A notification soon enough popped up on my phone. A small smile came upon my face as I clicked on it.

Old man: Good morning! Make it to school?

Me: Yeah, but no one has gone in yet so I assume the doors aren't open or something

Old man: See any pretty girls?

Me: Dude, you've been asking me this ever since I came out as bi to Jennifer-
