I opened up the containers and began to carefully place the cupcakes onto a marble display stand with three tiers Zianna had gotten out for me as the two older women held a bubbly conversation.
The sun had begun to set quickly, now seeing a violet sky with very scarce stars made me relax more. I liked the dark, to an extent.
"Oh, Sylvanna! These qwesodehlahs are amazing, as usual." Zianna brought me from my thoughts.
Sylvanna giggled. "It's pronounced 'kay-suh-dee-uhs,' Zianna!" She corrected her friend in a warm tone.
"That's what I said, macarena!" I couldn't help but chuckle at at the conversation while I focused on my cupcakes and Sylvanna began laughing again.
"You haven't changed a bit in years!" She exclaimed through laughter.
"Never girlfriend!"
"BFF's for life, yo!"
"Fo' sho!"
I giggled to my self as quietly as possible, especially when I heard Aphmau and Garroth complaining and cringing by the stairs.
Eventually, when I glanced over to where I last saw them, they weren't there.
"Oh, Lauren," Zianna grabbed my attention. I glanced at her and continued to focus on my cupcakes. "I forgot to ask, did you make these yourself?"
"Yes ma'am!" I claimed proudly. "I hope they're good."
"They're home made!" Sylvanna added, making my smile grow.
"Oh, I love you already!" Zianna smiled. "But isn't that red velvet? I could have sworn you were a werewolf-"
"Substitute cocoa powder, Mrs. Ro'Meave." I explained briefly as I moved to the second tier.
"Oh! Smart!" She winked and I smiled again. "Smart, pretty, kind, stylish, a baker, and social! You're perfect!"
"Uh," I paused. "Perfect? I'm nowhere near perfect, ma'am."
"Not in my book!" She smiled and bumped my hip. I chuckled and gave her the satisfaction of bumping her hip back.
"Wait!" Sylvanna interrupted and we both looked at her in confusion. "Thoughts on Beyonce?"
"Oh," I thought about my answer as I turned to face the cupcakes again and work on the top tier. "I listen to just about everything and I think she's great. Pop and alternative music, especially alternative music, is what I typically listen to."
Zianna paused, staring at me. "You're perfect for him." She deadpanned. I jumped and sputtered as I placed the last cupcake. "Perfect for who?!"
"Oh, don't worry about it." She shook her head.
"So Lauren," Sylvanna began to change the topic as I wiped my hands clean with a towel. "I noticed you speak spanish?"
"Oh, right." I hesitated. "Not a lot. My dad took spanish all four years of high school, I think my mom did too, and so did Jennifer, and she was a spanish teacher. I try to speak it a little often so I don't completely lose what I learned before I start actually learning."
"Oh, that's right." Sylvanna nodded along. "I remember them speaking it to me sometimes."
"Oh! And your siblings! How are they?" Zianna gasped as they began finishing up dinner.
"Oh um..." I paused and glanced to the floor. "They're.." I sucked in air through my teeth. "Good."
"Are you sure?" Sylvanna pressed at my hesitation.

FanfictionI made adjustments because of the problematic content in the series, but this was a huge part of my childhood and couldn't help but fall back into it. It's a self insert rather than an oc insert, I just changed my family's names and home town.
