Resurgent

Part 17

I left the dormitory a little after Sam falls asleep, so now I'm just wondering around the compound. I end up on a rock in the Chasm, just listening to the rushing water.

I don't know how long I stay down there when I hear footsteps above me.

"Why are we here so late?" I hear a deep voice say, distinctly male.

"This is where we had our first kiss" Female, the second voice is definitely a girl.

"Okay...i still feel a little suspicious..."

"You know that serum, the anti aging one?" She says

"How could I forget?" the man responds

"Well we're in our thirties and we still look less than twenty."

"Do you have a point to this?"

She sighs, "He's back...Will came back, after all these years we finally know what happened."

It's Tris and Four. Most definitely my parents. I feel like I shouldn't be listening.

"I felt empty for so long, and now I feel like the hole that was eating at my chest has been filled." Tris says

"Believe me babe I know. I know it hit you harder but we suffered together, but it's all okay now...everything is finally okay."

They are silent for a minute then Tris responds, "I was more of a mess than you were, and we both know it...At least you wanted to leave the house, the compound, you worked through it all...you even wanted another baby..."

"Is there a point to this babe?" Four asks

I hear a sigh then Tris responds, "I think it's time to start trying for another one..."

It's silent for a moment, I'm guessing they are hugging, then I hear tris say "Oh right now? Okay." and their breathing gets heavier.

Well this is awkward... I quietly sneak back to the dormitory.

Sam is sitting in my bed, wide awake.

"I've been waiting up for you." she says

"Why? It's late."

"I don't really have a reason...just couldn't sleep."

"Then come on." I say holding out my hand

She takes it and I lead her out of the dormitory to the tracks, "where are we going?"

"I saw this place during capture the flag, you'll love it."

We jump on the train and ride out to the edge of the city. To the fence.

"What are we doing here?" She asks looking up at the fence.

"Climbing." I start going up

"Isn't it electric?" She says still on the ground.

"Nope." I stop, looking down "are you coming or what?"

I can tell she rolled her eyes even from up here, but she climbs anyway.

I make it to the top and she's up there in another minute.

"Why did we come up here?" She asks

"Just thought it would be a nice view."

"It is." she sighs "do you ever miss it?"

"Not really...You?"

"I miss my sister, but that's it."

"I didn't know you have a sister."

"Yeah one sister...four brothers"

"I've always wanted a sibling..."

"HEY WHOS UP THERE?!" Someone yells from below

"Shit." I say getting up "Run."

"What?" She whispers back.

"Come on!" We run down the stairs and hop into the the train.

We ride back to the compound and back to the dormitory so we can get just a little sleep before training.
