I bolt up from the chair still feeling the snakes wrapped around my neck. I am pulled back into reality when I feel a hand on my shoulder.

"How did you get rid of the snakes?" Tris asks me

"I don't know, I just did it."

"I figured..." she states going back to the computer.

"Why does it matter?"

"It doesn't...anymore." she sits next to me as she explained "when I chose it wasn't acceptable for our minds to think like this. I'm divergent, Four is divergent, makes sense that you're divergent."

I stand up, not knowing exactly what to say and walk to the door. I make my way down to the pit for lunch.

I take a seat next to Sam like usual and we eat in a comfortable silence.

"Where were you yesterday? You did t come back to the dorms last night."

"Oh, yeah, I um...stayed with some family here last night." I silently laugh at myself

"You have family here?"

"Um yeah, my aunt." it's almost the truth.

"Well who is she?"

"I don't want to talk about it."

"Why?"

"Sam, just don't." She gets up and walks away, "Sam where are you going?"

"Away."

I sigh, getting up to follow her. I catch up to her at the chasm as she is climbing down to a rock below. "Sam, wait." She doesn't stop so I follow her.

She's holding her knees to her chest watching the water rush by.

"Why are you mad at me?" I ask sitting down next to her.

"I'm not mad." she doesn't even look at me.

"So you're telling me that I left a full plate of cake up there to follow a girl that isn't actually angry at me, but just stormed out for no reason?"

"Yep."

"Seriously what's wrong?"

"I just thought we don't keep secrets from each other. I can tell you're hiding something. I thought our relationship was stronger than that."

"To be fair I didn't even know about the secret until yesterday."

"So are you going to tell me about your aunt at least."

"No." She stands up ready to walk away. "Because she's not my aunt."

"What are you talking about?"

"Just found out that the girl I thought was my aunt is my mom."

"You were raised in abnegation how does that work?"

"My 'dad' abducted me when I was two weeks old. He's actually my uncle."

"So who's your parents. I mean I'm assuming they live here considering you met your mom."

I hesitate not sure if I should tell her, I feel like I need to tell somebody. "Um well...it's...they're..."

"Any day now. A name would be good."

I sigh, "Tris and Four."

She stares at me in shock, "Like our instructors Tris and Four?"

"How many Tris and Fours do you think are in this compound?"

"Oh...That's wow...so guess you're basically getting a free pass into Dauntless then."

"No I don't want that. I don't want to be given a spot just because I'm the instructors' kid. I'm going to work just as hard as everyone else to try to get in...because there's no way I can go back to Abnegation now."

"I guess it would be a little weird." She says getting up. "lets go back up it's kinda cold down here."

I take off my jacket and hand it to her, "Here,"

She slips it on "thanks,"

She starts to climb up and I follow, she gives me a hand when we reach the top but she doesn't let go as we walk through the corridors of the compound.
