She locked her hands together in her lap as she sat on the counter in their bathroom, staring at the pregnancy test that read positive. It had been almost a year since her accident and Clarissa was finally beginning to get passed her shy and nervous armor and back to her normal self. She and Evan had went back to Germany after River's selection ended, had their Coronation Ceremony, and now this.
Clarissa's hands shook as she slid off the counter and grabbed the test before leaving to go find Evan. She could feel the nervousness and excitement bubble inside of her, how was he going to react? She walked swiftly down the hall and towards his office, even though Evan had take over as king, he still made sure a lot of his time was spent with her.
Clarissa pushed the office doors open quietly, peaking in. His head was bent as he was studying some paperwork, a pair of reading glasses sliding down his nose. He hadn't heard her walk in, he must be engrossed in his work.
She walked all the way in, shutting the door softly behind her. Clarissa made her way over to the large oak desk where he was, and sat on the edge.
"Evan," She spoke softly.
His head shot up, startled, his blond hair messy, "Hello love, I didn't even hear you come in."
She smiled slightly, "I just needed to tell you something but I see you're busy so I'll-,"
"No, no! Tell me," Evan took off his glasses and set them on the desk, smiling at her.
"Well um..." She trailed off not knowing how to tell him.
He looked a her concerned, "What's the matter, darling?"
"Nothing, it's just that..." She trailed off again.
"Just that what?"
Clarissa gave up trying to tell him and handed him the pregnancy test.
He took it with a confused look and examined it, saying nothing. Evan continued to stay silent making Clarissa grow even more nervous than she was before.
"Evan?"
He looked up, "It this real?"
She nodded slightly.
Evan smiled widely and stood up, scooping her off the edge of the desk and into his arms, spinning her.
"That's amazing! We're having a baby." He beamed down at her.
She smiled relieved up at him, "We're having a baby."
