Fannah

Preparations were being made to send me off to the house I was going to be living with Ahmad. Seeing as we were now officially Husband and wife, it was a tradition that I'd would be sent to his house in the night of the wedding. I didn't know why he decided to live outside the palace though.

Maybe Ahmad decided to live away from the palace so that he'd be free to make my life miserable without any hiccups, or maybe, he wanted to kill and bury me, without anyone finding out. Different thought crossed my mind and I was a little scared, about the whole situation.

"Wow! Today's make up look has taken the trophy. You look gorgeous like never before Fannah" Huda squealed, as she hugged Hindu tightly.

Hindu hugged her back and they both swayed from side to side squealing like mice. I rolled my eyes at their childishness. Hindu and Huda were getting along so well, one would think they had been friends all their lives.

The door opened to reveal a smiling Jasmeet holding a black laffaya resting on a hanger. "And the outfit is ready, everyone have a look. It's just as stunning as the bride"she spread out the laffaya for everyone to see, and Oh my God! It was so beautiful. It was midnight black with golden stones (they were real gold) neatly arranged to form beautiful patterns.

"Wow, wow, wow, I can't even find the appropriate words to describe this beauty" Hindu said in awe as she and Huda felt the silky material.

"Girls, you can keep admiring it while we wrap it around her. The cars are ready and everyone's waiting for the bride" Jasmeet ordered. she walked over and busied herself with wrapping the material around me and the two squealing rabbits paid no attention to her, instead they continued cooing at each other. Jasi only shook her head at them and continued what she was doing.

In just little time, I was already sitting on the giant bed in my equally huge room with the three people who have now become my very best friends. As usual, Huda and Hindu were shamelessly making funny comments about the consummation of my marriage right in front of me. Jasmeet got herself busy with rearranging already properly arranged stuff in the room.

Jasmeet was trying hard not to show how much their conversation bothered her but she failed miserably. The two of them were soo immersed in their little bubble that they didn't notice.

My heart broke for her and I felt irritated with myself. I had always been the one to curse and condemn all those characters in the books who watched another woman suffer as they took her man from her. But now, I was doing the exact same thing or even worse. I never imagined myself to be the villain in a love story, but destiny has a cruel way of doing things. Who was I kidding? I was never forced into the marriage, I could refuse if I wanted, so I guess I had no right to blame destiny. In the story of Ahmad and Jasmeet's love story, I was definitely the other woman. The other woman whom I despised with all of my heart.

"Hey sister in-law, don't over exhaust yourself tonight because tomorrow is still the debutante party and we want you to walk properly" Huda's mischievous voice dragged me out of my head. I scrunched my brows in confusion. There was another party? So after all the exhausting wedding events, we weren't done yet? And what was even the need for that last party?

"Wow, another party? What is it about?" Hindu chirped with excitement. Hindu had always loved parties. She went to every party she heard about, it didn't matter whether she got an invite or not.

"The debutante party is the event that has been organized to officially introduce Fannah to the people of Toure as their next queen. I heard from my mother that it's a very grande affair,  I'm so excited. The last one was for my mom and I wasn't there to witness it" Huda chirped happily, the excitement evident in her eyes. That particular party, is totally unnecessary if you asked me.
