It took me a bit but I made it to the gym and I actually ended up holding the door for my new partner.
"Hello again miss..."
"Right, never actually gave names. Well I'm Senkitsu but you can call me Senki or Sen; everyone else does."
"Alright Sen, I'm Akumu I don't have any abbreviations."
"Cool, well ready to see that I can not only keep up with you but beat you?"
"You seem weirdly confident for someone who doesn't even know how often I'm in the gym or know what I lift for exercises."
"Well let's make a deal right here, no quirks."
"Deal. You normally make that deal before learning the other person's quirk?" At that she lightly blushed.
"I'm new to working out so you're my first workout partner." I then realized she's probably around my age maybe a little younger but probably the same year. As the conversation progressed, the moon began coming up.
"Anyway, how old are you Sen?" I asked her as I began helping her put plates onto a bar for bench pressing. "I'm 14 and just finished middle school. What about you?"
"15, also just finished middle school." The surprise on her face was amazing at the revelation that we were in the same grade but I was significantly bigger. "Alright that's 75 pounds on either side u ready Sen?" In response Sen just lifted the bar and began pumping it up and down for about 20 reps then we switched and I went to add 200lbs to each side so as to get to my normal. As I began pulling weights off the bar to put heavier ones on Sen looked at me curiously. "Aren't we supposed to life the same weight?"
"Normally yes, but I could lift that with one arm and little effort."
"What do you mean?"
"Oh you will see. Can I use my quirk to speed up changing plates?"
Still pretty much in shock at my claim Sen just gave me a small thumbs up. I gave her one back and snapped my fingers causing the plates own shadows to move them from the rack to the bar. Sen just watched silently as the 45lbs bar lost the 150 she added and gained around 400lbs then her weights were added back. The bar barely big enough to have this amount of weight bent slightly. "Hey Akumu,"
"Yeah?"
"Never mind I want to see you lift this."
"Alright." I said back smiling internally since I usually take the 125lbs bar that can handle more weight but they would work if I was careful not to break the bar. "Alright and a one, a two, and a three," and with that I began lifting some 595lbs with some heavy breathing but still doing it without much other inconvenience to myself. Instead of doing 25 reps I just went with 15 since I already technically worked out today. As soon as I was done I put the bar and weights back up into the holster and looked at Sen whose jaw was completely dropped. "THERE IS NO WAY-"
"Sen I appreciate the energy but people don't want to listen to screaming while they workout."
"There is no goddamn way you are 15."
"Being 6'1 and still growing has its perks but I have to keep up with my body with calories and muscle so I don't topple over."
"What's your quirk?"
"Shadow Keeper and yourself?"
"Spine. Why does yours sound so much cooler?"
"More dangerous quirks tend to have cooler names I suppose. What does your quirk do?"
"I can produce venomous spines all over my body."
"What kind of venom?"
"Cardio toxic. It means-"
"I know what it means. Your venom target the heart. Here I thought my quirk was dangerous."
"Luckily I'm immune to the venom but I have pricked myself a good amount when I was trying to get the hang of it originally."
"So neither of us have ability enhancing quirks."
"I don't know dude you seem pretty enhanced." This actually made me laugh for a bit.
"Not quite, more I've been working out since I was 5."
"That's impressive determination."
"Well when you want to go into heroics and have to think about the fact you may end up fighting someone with the perfect counter to your quirk you get really good at pushing yourself to be able to make up for it."
"There's a difference between pushing yourself and being able to benchpress a full grown grizzly bear."
"Never thought of it that way, anyway your turn to bench. Want me to switch the plates or do you want to try my weight?"
"How much do you weigh?"
"326ish"
"How much is muscle?"
"I'd have to guess 205 probably."
"I'm good."
"How much do you weigh?"
"Why?"
"You wanna push yourself?"
"Uh sure 146."
"Try doing 225."
"That isn't much higher than what I normally do."
"For 20 reps."
"There it is, alright, but actually spot me."
"Yes ma'am."
"Don't call me that."
"Just lift."
It took a bit but Sen managed to get 15 reps before I had to grab the bar. "That was pretty good, how do you feel?"
"I'm ready to sleep for a week." I had the shadows put back my weights and turned it up to 225 each side and that actually felt really good so I did the full 25 all whilst talking to Sen.
"You can sleep after we finish up here. What should we do next?" I asked as I was pulling the weights off of the bar.
"Bicep curls?"
"Sure grab your weights."
"Let me guess you are doing 250 per arm."
"Actually close." I said back chuckling.
"Then what?"
"300."
"Dude you scare me. How often are you here?"
"9 hours a day every day."
"Do you have any friends?"
"Not really but I'm happy." By this point we had both begun doing the exercise and just kept talking. After bicep curls it was behind the head, then the pull cable and pull ups. The. Entire workout was probably 4 hours but it was incredibly fun. After we were both done I said by to Sen and went downstairs and took a shower. Then as I was walking outside I was grabbed and now we're here detective.
