"You're on."
And with that, the competition started. Before she had even taken 10 steps I had eaten all of my food and was halfway to the kitchen. Glancing behind me I saw Ari, she disappeared and was in front of me, 'Damn you, Ari that's cheating.' We continued until I slipped and fell face-first sliding across the floor hitting a wall.
"Ow,"
"You idiot, are you okay?"
"Sure,"
As I began to lift myself up, I could feel Ari trying so hard to not laugh but once she saw my face red from friction with the floor she burst.
"Pffffft haha,"
"Get it all out and know I hate you."
Completely running out of breath Ari barely managed to stop laughing at me only to say "I am well aware," only to continue to laugh for a good another couple of minutes. After finishing her bout of laughter and me paying for our food, we brought up the plates for the food and went outside for a quick break before Ari had to go back to work
"I'm surprised you managed to not die from the amount of air you used for that."
"Eh, you of all people know I have good lungs."
"Gross, you make it sound like we do or did something dirty."
"Why would you say that?!" She playfully yelled punching my arm.
"I'm just saying that can be taken weirdly,"
"I guess, whatever how's your training going?"
"I'm totally getting stronger," I said halfheartedly.
"Flex for me,"
"W-what? Why?" I asked very confused and somewhat weirded out at something that felt so random.
"Well, you implied that you didn't really feel like you were getting strong. So flex for me and prove that you aren't getting stronger since I doubt your grandmother could possibly weaken you in any way." She replied with a small glint in her eye.
"You seem weirdly excited about this."
"Fine, don't show me."
"Okay okay," I replied pulling up my sleeve and flexing.
"Uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuh"
"What?" I asked feeling my nerves take over my rationality.
"How? How are you so fucking buff yet the skinniest bitch alive?"
"What are you talking about? I can totally get better than this I know I can."
"Not that I doubt you but, you don't need to if you don't want to."
"I uh have no choice."
"Riiiight forgot u basically live with a hero trainer whose quirk is... What again?"
"I have no idea what her quirk is, all I know is she has trained me as an adult since I first came to her and Grandpa."
"And you were able to do it?"
"No, of course not, but, u give a kid a good goal and tell them they will be training as an adult, they will push until they can't move and then do it again."
My phone buzzed as soon as I said that with a message from Grandma.
"Are you coming or not?"
'Crap, I really gotta go!'
"I am sorry Ari but I gotta go or my grandparents will actually kill me."
"Seeya, I gotta work anyway."
After that, I took off running and jumped into the shadow on the wall of a building then walked through until I got to my grandparents' shadows and jumped through my Grandfather's.
"Hi, Grandpa,"
"AAAAAAAHHHH!"
"Hi, Grandma"
"Hello, darling,"
"So, what're we eating?"
"How can you both just act like it's fine when I am being scared to death?!"
"You always react like that." My grandmother and I replied simultaneously.
"Anyway, what's for dinner?"
"For us, we each have katsudon and each of us gets a pork cutlet bowl. For you my infinite eater, we have Tuna, rice, rolls, katsudon, three pork cutlet bowls, eel, sea urchin, octopus, and three types of crab for you to pick and choose as you wish."
"Thank you, shall we eat?"
"Thanks for the meal." we all said before digging into the food. After we all ate and the dishes were washed the three of us headed out to the training ground for coordination and agility. This area consisted of tightropes, targets, and alternating height poles to swing around, run across, jump around, or across. I jumped on top of a pole and went onto one foot to balance before I watched my grandfather get onto his pole and ready himself. "So the same as normal?" I asked my grandmother "Not even close." She replied as she threw me a blindfold. I put it on still balancing. "This exercise is simple, don't lose balance while your grandfather tries to attack you. oh and this is without using your quirk." I thought for a moment before realizing this was going to be harder than she stated, those exercises always were. "Let's do this," I said before losing my sense of sight and focusing on everything I could to help me. Tiny gusts of wind, the wooden poles creaking, and finally the heartbeats of those around me. The annoying thing about fighting my grandfather is that his quirk screws with your sense of direction which can easily make someone highly dizzy or in my case can completely disorient me especially since I have no way to recalibrate myself. My ears and nose visibly twitched as I searched for anything to give me a sense of when and where. I finally heard a slight pop as weight was rapidly transferred to and from the wood. I quickly readied myself to defend myself from every angle. 'He will probably go for my feet or head so as to knock me over.' as I thought that, I felt the wind brush by me as he got behind me. This meant almost nothing since I have seen my grandfather clear this entire pole area in one jump. That being said I can do it in two. the other issue with fighting my grandfather is that your instincts are always wrong, your intuition can be right, and he follows no pattern meaning that my sparring partner is different second to second. I felt the urge to duck so I stood and jumped to the pole the left stick out the right leg. This actually caught him which really shocked me but I began to spin rapidly in order to catch him before he could get away. I just managed to get him directly in the ribs slamming him into the base of a pole. With that, I knew I had just made this exercise much much harder. I had to react dramatically faster with absolutely no room for even a millisecond of hesitation for defense. Grandpa no longer made any mistakes either, which meant I lost sound but the one thing Grandpa didn't think about was smell. I could faintly smell him once he got close enough to me. This at least let me have something to help me. I waited until I could smell something or opposing my instincts told me something. All I had to do was dodge and defend so that's exactly what I would do. My instincts told me right hook, I defended for left, right, and a kick and it only paid off on the left hook directly to my chest at which I grabbed his arm, flipped him, and bounced to a new pole. This sort of strategy of defending, attack, escape continued for what felt like minutes until my grandfather managed to use a sneak attack to get my blindfold off my head. "Damn, really thought I was doing okay."
"You hit me at least 15 times and it took me til the end to actually land anything"
"You weren't really trying."
"I may have been holding back a bit but it was a new exercise for you, and I was still only holding back a tiny bit. I think I may be getting old."
"Exactly, it wasn't a fair fight"
"Boy, I am still standing after taking 15 hits from you, you really weren't trying to hurt me."
"Stop it both of you, Aku you did really well, it's a new exercise and you did very well without sight or your quirk"
"Alright, thanks Grandma I'm gonna go to the gym and keep trying to beat my record."
