Introducing Grant

Lexicon College of Science and Technology, New York City

"Liam", screamed Grant from behind as he was waiting for his car to arrive. But before he could reach out to his friend, Liam had already sat inside the car and drove off. Most of the time, Liam always greets Grant before they part their way in the college, but that day Grant had an extra class so Liam left early.

Grant Carter is from a small town named Greyville in Texas. He is also tall, but just a little bit shorter than Liam. He has brown hair and brown eyes, and also he is a bit skinny. He is the sole son of Henry Carter and Leslie Carter, who are both school teachers in a private school. He also has a younger sister Gracey Carter, who studies in the same school where Henry and Leslie teach. Although they don't have enough money, they tried every possible way to send Grant to college so that he wouldn't have a hard time in the future.

Grant just lives a couple of blocks away from the college and reaches his hostel within five minutes on foot. Being surrounded by rich elites of New York City and different parts of America, he has tried very hard to cope with the college environment. However, being from a village, nobody liked him and everyone just used to treat him like he didn't exist.

One day, while he was having lunch in the cafeteria, some frat boys came to him and asked him to leave the table so that they could sit there. As he was alone, and the frat boys were in a group, he just silently got up and looked around to see if there was an empty seat for him to sit.

Just as he was looking in a certain direction, a hand touched him from behind on his shoulder and he turned towards to see who it was. It was Liam, who saw him standing alone and said, "Come buddy, you can sit with me."

Grant was very thankful for Liam and they sat together. They had a little chit-chat and got to know each other more. Even another day, the same thing continued, and even the day after that. Like this, Grant and Liam became very good friends and Grant found a special kind of comfort in Liam.

Grant's Dormitory

As Grant entered his dorm, he changed his clothes from a black plaid shirt and pair of black jeans to grey sweatpants and a normal grey t-shirt. He laid down on his bed and checked his phone to see if he had received any new messages. Well, he got zero messages, which didn't surprise him at all. He opened his Facebook and decided to stalk Myra, and to his surprise, he found out that she had blocked him. In an extreme level of frustration, he just put his iPhone 7 down and decided to take a nap.

At around 7 pm, his fellow friend in the dorm woke him up for dinner, and he put on his flip-flops and headed towards the kitchen. The hostel didn't serve very good quality food. They had rice, bread, a vegetable (changes every day), and 2-3 pieces of meat.

After eating, he went to his room and started doing his assignments, and slept at around 11 pm.

As Grant was in a deep sleep, he heard someone, and at first, he thought it was in his dream. When he opened his eyes, he saw his roommate, Dave, sitting on a small brown chair, looking outside the window and talking on the phone with his girlfriend. This did make Grant a little bit jealous as he also wanted a girlfriend, but even after he has tried so many times, it never worked.

After the call was over, Dave walked back to his bed, and Grant questioned him how he met his girlfriend. Dave said, "I was invited to a party by my friend, Chris. It was actually Chris's girlfriend Sadie's birthday and Veronica, my girlfriend, was Sadie's best friend. So in the party, we got to know each other, hung out, hooked up, and like this, we are now a couple."

"That's adventurous", said Grant as he pulled the blanket over his shoulder to sleep.
