Luz p.o.v

i open the car door and get into the passengers seat. i hear Amity start the car as i buckle in my seatbelt. it was almost fully night by now and the crescent moon was high in the sky. it was almost a comfortable silence in the car. i know that she was still processing everything due to her face being as red as a tomato.

she pulls the car into reverse and backs out of the parking spot. when she put the car back into drive we sat there for a second. i wondered why we weren't moving so i looked to her. Amity had her hand, palm up, towards me. she wasn't looking at me at all and kept her eyes forward. after sitting there for a few seconds just looking at her hand she decided to speak. "if you're going to sit there and kiss my cheek, you at least need to hold my hand too." i feel my face start to heat up as i reach my hand to hold hers.

i interlaced our fingers together and brought them over to place on her lap. after that she continued to drive us to my house. i just made sure to give her directions when needed. once we pull into my driveway, she lets go of my hand and puts the car in park. we both turn to each other and i was the first to speak. "thank you for everything today." i mention as i try not to look her in the eyes.

"thank you for everything today too. i honestly liked spending time with you." she tells me quietly. my heart felt like it was going to explode outside my chest.

"um... so there is this fair starting next week, on friday. i was wondering if i could take you..." i pause and bring my head up, looking her in the eyes. "as a date." i see her face explode back into red but she still kept eye contact. i see her nod her head softly and i smile to her. she's honestly really cute. "okay, i'll text you about the details and we can get everything set up. text me when you get home."

i unbuckle my seatbelt and open the car door. right when i was about to leave i feel Amity grab my wrist, making me stop. before i was able to turn to her i feel her lean and over and kiss my cheek. when she pulled away i snapped my head towards her, my face was hot like magma. "i'll talk to you later. bye, Luz."
she simply tells me, her eyes breaking away from mine. i nod and she lets go of my wrist. i get out and close the car door. i walk to my front door and turn, waving to her before i enter the house. i see her wave back before driving away.

i go inside and close the door behind me, then putting my back against it. i let out the breath i didn't know i was holding in and could hear my heartbeat in my ears. i look up and see both Eda and King on the couch, watching tv. they both turn and look to me. "how was hanging out with your friend?" Eda asked casually, not knowing at all about what just happened.

"i think... i think i'm catching feelings for her... fast." i say blankly as i stare at both of them. their faces grow wide in questioning as they look to each other and back to me. they both scoot to their respected sides and pat for me to sit in the middle.

"tell us everything." King tells me as i make my way over. i sit down and put my head in my hands. this is embarrassing.

i rant for an almost good thirty minutes about my infatuation towards the green haired Blight. i talked about how she made my heart feel like it was going to burst from my chest, or how my face turns red when i talk to her now. i explained that over these few days i have grown to care about Amity more and more. i feel like she never leaves my thoughts.

"you're getting it bad." Eda chuckled out as she patted my back. i groan and run my hands down my face.

"you guys are so embarrassing." i groan to them, getting up. "anyways, i want to take a shower and go to bed. goodnight you guys." i tell them as i wanted to just not be in the room anymore. hearing their teasing will be the end of me.
