War's pov
"The law is clear: when the Seventh Seal is broken...Four horsemen shall ride forth to punish the wicked. Be they Sons of men, Lords of Heaven or the Dregs of Hell. All upon the earth will be judged, and the pact forged anew."
Ever since the destruction of the Third kingdom, everything had changed. And it frustrated me greatly. The call was given, I was summoned and yet here I am; kneeling in front of the Council as they looked down him, and they weren't pleased with me and my actions, but I know that something was wrong.
"You forget your post, Horseman! You forgot the law!! No call was given! Yet the Destroyer marched, and there you were found under his black banner if the claims are true."
"To hell with your claims! The Seals we're broken! I was summoned!" I said as I raised my voice as I looked up at the Council before me.
"But where are the other Horsemen? Why are they not summoned as well?" Asked one of the three Council members on the far right.
"The Seven Seals are hidden, as they have been since the pact was forged, eons ago. All of them intact...there was no call." Respond to the member in the centre as I stared back down to the ground.
"You aided the Dark Ones. Broke a sacred covenant that has doomed Mankind, and threatened the Balance! Do you deny it?"
Do I deny it? Of course I do! But it's now the Council's word against mine. What could I even say? What could I possibly do to prove that something is a miss? I couldn't say anything at first, till I just recall a moment that occurred during the fall of Mankind.
"When I rode...Heaven and Hell were already at war. Abaddon was there. He KNEW something...! Faith was there as well, she knew that something was wrong!"
"Abaddon fell, fighting off the chaos you unleashed! Even Faiths words wouldn't help you, as she has no power here!"
"I fought, powerless against the demons! And still you accuse me?!"
"You defeat proves nothing! Likely, the Destroyer cast you aside when he was finished with you! You have defiled the law, horseman. You will be punished."
The nerve of them! I've shown nothing but my utmost loyalty to the Council and yet this is how they shall see me?! For a crime that I never commit! If I wish to prove it then I must work for it, by returning to the Third kingdom.
"I serve only the Council. Only the balance. As the horseman always have. Send me back. I will punish the ones responsible."
"How? What hope do you have against the Destroyer's armies? You are powerless!"
"Then I will fail, and the demons will have carried out your sentence," I said to them honestly.
"...Very well. You shall return to the earth. But, you shall be watched. Come forth."
I did as I was told as I walked up a small pool of magma and put my armoured hand without having any second thoughts. I may be a horseman but that doesn't mean I don't feel pain, that is how it felt as I try to fight against it. Then suddenly the magma turned black and I pulled out my hand it to see that it has that blackness, almost like it just soaks up whatever darkness that was there.
"The Watcher is bound to you. It will ensure your loyalty," said the Council as a dark yet thin figure formed from my hand and appeared by my side. It was wearing silver-like armour with chains and shackles on its wrist along with with with with with bright blue like eyes on it and small wings on its back. We both just stared at each other without saying anything, then it suddenly flies around before appearing behind me as it puts their hands on my shoulders and floated in front of me.
"Remember that. Or I will really get under your skin," it said with a raspy and yet scratchy voice. Then suddenly I started to feel pain in my arm, painful enough to get me on my keens in front of Council then it just vanished as it retreated into my arm. Is this thing really just going to toy with me!
"ENOUGH!" said the Council as they weren't pleased with the behaviour that was displayed.
"Rise, War and arm yourself." They said as I slowly got back on my feet and stood tall before them. I made my way to a podium on the right, then my sword has appeared for me to use once more.
"Chaoseater. The angry blade thirsts for destruction." I wasted no time as my weapon appeared before and pulled it out from the stone and magma.
"The souls of the dead will be your currency. Some enemies are more easily bought than killed," said the Council member on the left as I obtain the souls.
"Seek the demon Vulgrim. Few can afford his services, but perhaps you can strike a bargain," the centre Council said me as loathe the idea of retrieving help from him.
"The Council confers with demons now, does it?"
"Since the truce was broken, some demons have fallen from the Destroyer's favour. Vulgrim is one such outcast, he has long sought an audience with us." News of this has frustrated me deeply. Why is this only now that I'm hearing about this?
"How long have I been here?"
Then all of a sudden I felt pain rushing through my arm as my whole body was up in flames. I'm being sent to the human world, just as promised.
