Faith's pov
It's funny that these demons still think that they could beat War, even when he's riding Ruin or not; he's still powerful and strong. I couldn't even help myself to smile and hold on to him tightly while slaughtering his enemies and charging into them with his horse. And just when the demons were taken care of, the entry that we came in from has opened up again.
"You're little reunion brings a tear to my eye, now can we go?! That filthy beast might be your only hope of finding the Stygian," said Watcher as he was starting to get impatient. Normally I would talk back to him, especially since he just insulated Ruin but I'll let him off this time. Besides, he is right. We have wasted enough time here, now we need to get to the king of the ash worms. As we left the arena; we were back into the other large open space. At first, it was oddly quiet but then suddenly the ash worm appears before going back into the ground.
"That worm is still here?!"
War didn't say anything as he was trying to avoid the worm but as well to not get eaten. If we had to do this by foot and air; we would well dead but now that we have Ruin back, it is easier to get away from it. But of course, it has been a little too close for comfort. Just like now as that thing nearly got us. What do we need to do in order to kill this thing?! Then almost like my thoughts were heard, the Watcher appeared.
"Did you two see that?"
"See what?"
"There was something glowing in its mouth right before it nearly turned you into kibble."
"There was?"
"Faith," War suddenly said while getting my attention.
"Yes, War."
"We have found our way to kill that worm. Which is why I'm leaving this to you," he said as he handed me the gun that Ulthane made for him. At first, I was surprised and normally I would question myself if I'm capable to do this; but if War trusts me then I have to do this. Without any second thoughts, I took the gun and ready my aim while War got Ruin in position and trying not to get us hurt. After what felt like a couple of shots, I was finally able to weaken the worm.
"Now War!"
The minute I said that he immediately did a sharp turn with his weapon in hand. As he had Ruin charged into the worm, it made stand tall and War finished it off by slicing the worm right down the middle and landing back into the ashen ground while being dragged down into the ash, and a different gate has opened up to us.
"Well done. But that was only practice for the Stygian. The biggest, and meanest for them all," said Watcher as he remind us of the mission before going away. He got back up on Ruin and made our way towards the new pathway that could be our way to Stygian.
"That was amazing War!"
"It was mostly you Faith," he said to me with a slight smile which made me blush a bit.
"Oh no, I only helped by making the kill easier for you."
"However you wish to look at it, you were still a big help Faith. And to be honest with you; I'm happy that you are here with me rather than being away."
From his words alone it made me stun to even say anything. War was happy that I was here with him? Does this mean that he could possible...No that can't be. There's no hope that he could feel the same way for me, as I do for him. Besides; he's a Horseman, a Nephilim, a man who gives his loyalty to the council and while I'm an angel. But I wish I could tell him. Just as I was about to say something, demons began to appear and we wasted no time in killing them. As we made our way deeper into the cave while slaying more enemies and finally made it to the other side which leads to an even larger opened space and from the distance we could see our target, the Stygian. Who was chained and imprisoned while the demons watched its struggles, trying to break free.
"So, that's the Stygian. Looks like they worked him over pretty good. Now you two just have to get in there and finished what they started," said the Watcher as he kept his eyes on the large worm. However before we could do anything, a demon has noticed us. This then leads to the whole group seeing us and of course if we wanted the heart, we had to kill them off first. However just as we were doing that the Stygian managed to break off its chains and dive into the ashen ground.
"You focus on getting that muzzle off him War. I'll hand the rest and weaken it for you."
"Very well Faith," he said to me while riding right next to the worm thanks to Ruin and began to strike at the metal muzzle. After what felt like a couple of hits it finally came off, and I immediately began shooting at its mouth. The battle itself wasn't easy since you have to wait for the right moment while trying to take of the baby ashen worms that came after us as well.
Finally, when I managed to weaken it War went in for the finishing kill to which also meant getting swallowed up by the worm before going down into the ash. I however was still on Ruin and I wasn't worried for Wars safety as I could hear the pained screaming of the Stygian which then followed the ash turning red and shoot straight up in the air like a fountain, with War standing in the centre of it. Holding the heart that we need.
"I guess there's nothing left to do but get the Stygian's Heart back to Samael. Still, all these hearts, the power he'll get from them. I hope you know what you're doing," said the Watcher as he appears but also bring up a good enough reason to worry.
"We hope so as well Watcher, but that's a problem that we can worry about another time. For now, let's return to him," I said to him before he disappeared again while War got back on the horse and began our way back to Samael prison. While I hoped and pray that we never need to fight against him one day.
