War's pov
In what felt like a blink of an eye, me and Faith have arrived in the White City. A mix of Hellguard and demons corpses. As we walked forward, the Angels moved out of our way and stood in front of the enemy responsible for the fall of the Third Kingdom, the lives of humanity, and crimes that I had never committed. Abbadon the Destroyer. He turned his attention to us while opening one of his clawed hands, revealing a body.
"Uriel!" Faith called out with worry
"She mistook me for... someone else. She loved him. And I believe he loved her... long ago, before all this..."
"Your right on that, you really aren't the same holy man as you were before. It's almost heartbreaking that she put her whole life on the line for you."
"Foolishly, he chose duty above all and died for it. Will you both do the same? Heaven hunts you... Hell hates you. All of creation cares not whether you live or die. Join me, War. Like a great sword, I will raise you up, and our enemies will shatter against us. The spoils of a thousand victories will be yours. Or, serve the justice of a corrupt Council. And a creator who abandons his most faithful. I offer you this choice, Horseman. Would you serve in Heaven, or rule in Hell?"
Was he even wrong? Everything he said, is all true. Heaven hunts me down and Hell hates me to the bone. And to top it all off; the Council has used me. They knew that I was never reasonable for the Endwar. So I do have every reason to go against everyone who did me wrong.
"War?" Faith called out to me. I turned my attention to her, I can see the worry and fear all over her face. Heaven may hunt me, the Hellguard will do what it takes to have my head... but Faith... She was the only one who ever believed in me, cared for me... If I were to take the Destroyer's side, then that would mean that she will be killed. And I can't allow that to happen.
"I choose what once, a coward did not," I said. The Destroyer did not like my answer as he just tossed Uriel. And the final battle has begun.
"Be careful Faith!" I said to her as I attacked the Destroyer while she handles the air.
"I will!"
Eventually, the battle became more vicious as the Destroyer started his air attacks and dive-bombing. It was at that moment, that I became very angry. While he took to the air, he managed to get Faith. Which resulted in her losing her smaller pair of wings and getting tossed aside. But instead of staying down; she chose to get back up. Now we weren't showing any mercy this time. Then when I saw an opening, I jumped over him and grab onto his back while taking to the air.
Without any second thoughts, or wondering what the consequences will be, I ready the Armageddon Blade and stabbed him. Thus causing the Destroyer to shift back to the form that he once was and crash right through the floor as he falls.
"War! Are you okay?!" Faith asked as she quickly yet slowly walked towards me while leaving a blood trail due to her missing wings.
"I'm fine Faith. But you should be resting, you're losing a lot of blood."
"I know, but I can't do that. Not after remembering everything. I have every reason to fight like you; I have to keep going, I need to confront him."
"...Very well. Come." I say while taking her into my arms and dropping down to the floor below us. And there was Abaddon, keeling on the floor. With black robes and wings that were once white. I put Faith back down on the ground and watch in silence as she stared at her former leader.
"Abaddon. You were once a holy man, but because of your greed, become your downfall. The crimes that you have committed are one thing, but to steal the Seventh Seal from me, whip my memories of it all and resulting the death of humanity is another. Now, prepare to die and I'll take back what was mine." She says while showing no expression, just blankness. Just as Abaddon was about to attack Faith, I immediately jump in and blocked it.
"The Armageddon Blade... This will be interesting."
Our final battle has begun. All my life I battled against the strongest, but never once have I ever thought that I would fight against Abaddon. I've always heard that he was powerful but to witness it for myself is a different story. But of course, he was still no match for me as I was able to disarm him from his weapon.
"Well done War!" Says Faith as she landed beside me, while my attention never left Abaddon's body as he was trying to away from me.
"You have taught me something, Abaddon. Sometimes duty must be cast aside, to do what must be done." I said as I took hold of each wing.
"It is not for duty that I kill you now."
Using the physical that I have, I ripped off his wings while he was screaming with pain. With the little bit of strength he had, Abaddon turned over on his back, facing me and Faith. And as I took hold of the Armageddon Blade, Uriel appeared beside us.
"Uriel...Uriel..." Says Abaddon as he reached his hand out towards her, in hopes of her help.
"Reap for what have sown, betrayer."
After hearing those words, I finally killed Abaddon by shoving the blade into his chest. While she and Faith looked on without saying or doing anything. As his body went limp; the Seventh Seal fall out of his hand and I picked and showed it to Faith.
"Finally...It's back where it belongs." She said softly with a faint smile. However, just when she was about to take it, my body suddenly felt a large amount of pain.
"War!" Uriel called out as I fall to the floor, while a sickening and familiar chuckle was known to my ears.
"You had to know it was a one-way ticket..." Says the Watcher as he appeared before me.
"The... Council..."
So my suspicions were right, just like the Tree. The Council were just using me... My trust, my power. They knew all along that I was innocent, that I wasn't reasonable. And yet here I am, on my keens because of them.
"They know that you'd never play executioner because of your precious honour. They let you take the fall... They knew you'd butcher everyone involved to clear your name. And you did."
"No!" Says Uriel as she and Faith tried to attack the Watcher in order to help me but were pushed back by his power.
"Patience, whores. I've got some for you too." He says while turning his attention back to me before his six pair of eyes fall upon the Seal and picked it up.
"I'll take that... If it were to get broken, you might get ideas -- like not going back in your cage. It's tragic, really. You had freedom in the palm of your hand... and you lost it!"
Despite the situation I was in, I honestly couldn't help but chuckle. The Watcher always felt like he was on top, that he was one step ahead of me... He's much more of a fool than I thought of him to be.
"What's so damn funny? Even you wouldn't laugh at your own funeral."
"I'm laughing... at yours," I said to him as I slowly stood back up, and then the Armageddon Blade pierced right through me. While Faith and Uriel stood behind me.
"Nex Sacramentum. The Death Oath is complete."
