"It all started a year before my 10th birthday..."
**FLASHBACK 1947**
"Mommy! Daddy!" I shout gleefully running in from the school bus to the overcrowded two bedroomed apartment we lived in, in the heart of Brooklyn. Dan follows close behind carrying Ivy on his back.
I had just started 4th grade at school, Dan had just gone into Freshman year and Ivy was just starting kindergarten. My father Thomas was a science professor at the local college and my mother Grace cleaner for Stark industries.
My father longed for a job under the guidance of Howard Stark but alas no such luck. Ever since the big debt of Captain America in 1943 my father was obsessed. He was so fascinated in the super solider serum and how it worked he began using all his spare time staying back at the standard labs at the college. Working on his own replica of the serum.
My siblings and I absolutely adored Captain America too. Playing make believe down the local streets as Captain America and his crew. I would always argue with my big brother that I wanted to be Captain America, even if I wasn't a boy, he always caved and allowed me to do so.
The fun and games we had especially with all the other local kids. But then on my 10th birthday everything changed.
4th July 1948 my 10th birthday. (Yes I have the same birthday as Steve Rogers. Ironic right?)
"Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday dear y/n!! Happy birthday to you!!" My whole family crowd into the tiny kitchen with the lights dimmed and a small cupcake as my birthday cake.
"Make a wish my darling." My mother whispers into my ear, looking in awe I close my eyes tight before opening them up again and blowing.
I wish I could be like Captain America
Again ironic right? As the day went on me and my siblings laughed and played, that's when my father came into our small bedroom and summoned us all.
"Children I have a surprise for you all."
"Yey! What is it daddy!" I jump up into his arms hugging him tight.
"Princess I have a surprise for you, all of you in fact. We need to go out for a little while." Without anymore convincing we all rush to grab our shoes and sweaters.
**An hour later**
We've been in my fathers lab for a little while and he's currently making up what appears to be syringes. Moving over to some secure containers my father pulls out his very deep blue serum. I scrunch my nose with confusion and walk over.
"Daddy, what are you doing?"
"Oh well princess this is my surprise to you."
"What is it?"
"Oh... well it's- it's some special medicine."
"Medicine? Am I sick?"
"No, no of course not my dear. This medicine will help you to grow big and strong." He crouches down caressing my cheek gently.
"Like Captain America?" I say cheesy grin on display.
"Yes, that's exactly what this medicine will do." Turning away I rush over to my siblings shouting whilst I run. "I'm going to be like Captain America! All big and strong!"
"Hey no fair!" Ivy shouts at me bottom lip beginning to tremble. Once my father has set up three syringes he comes over to us all.
"Don't you worry my little sugarplum, you're all going to be like Captain America." Both Ivy and I jump up and down clapping getting exited but Dan, he wasn't so excited.
