Astrid's POV
As one of my older cousins comes back from their checkup, I stand in fear knowing I'm next because I'm the last one and the youngest.
My mum has left me alone at the office, as she has gone back to the place, my cousins and family are at. There's no one else here except Kristine, who's behind the reception desk.
Then, the door opens and I see Karlie come out from behind it.
"Hey Astrid, you ready hun," Karlie asks softly.
"I'm kinda scared," I say nervously. And Karlie gives me a small smile.
"Aww, don't worry sweetie, it's gonna be okay I promise," Karlie says encouragingly. I nervously nod my head and Karlie picks me up into her arms. Karlie carries me back to the exam room and places me down on the chair.
Karlie sits down on the stool behind me and gently helps me to lay back down.
"There," Karlie says, with an encouraging tone. Karlie grabs her mask and gloves and puts them on. Then, she grabs two tools.
"K Astrid. This is an explorer, just gonna use it to gently tap your teeth to see if there are any cavities. And this is a small mirror which will let me check behind your teeth," Karlie says softly.
"Okay," I say.
"Open wide sweetie," Karlie says encouragingly. I nervously open my mouth and Karlie starts checking my teeth.
"Good job Astrid. Nearly done, sweetheart. Just gonna brush your teeth with this electric toothbrush," Karlie says, snapping a plastic purple head onto this machine.
"Okay," I say, opening my mouth again. Karlie starts brushing my teeth with this new tool and it tickles. After a few moments, Karlie stops and takes the tools out of my mouth.
"Good job Astrid. You did so well," Karlie says encouragingly, taking off her mask and gloves.
"Thanks, Karlie," I say.
"No problem hun," Karlie says softly.
