"Dex Dex Dex Dex Dex guess what!" Lex screeched.

Dex covered his ears, wincing. He loved his siblings, he really did, but he couldn't wait for them to finally control their volume levels.

"Did you manifest as a vociferator?" He muttered.

"That's rude, but nope! Look at this!" Lex clasped his hands together, then slowly drew them apart. In between his hands was a small stick of ice.

Dex gaped. "Wait, you manifested? As a froster?"

He nodded excitedly. "Yeah! It happened yesterday!"

"That's amazing! I can't wait to see your ability up close." Dex touched the screen of the imparter fondly.

"Mom's gonna teach me bunch of tricks, you're gonna be really impressed!"

"Lex! Did you call Dex and not even tell me?" Bex yelled, falling down and landing next to Lex. "I can't believe you'd do that!" She grabbed the imparter from his hands and began levitating into the air.

"Hey!" Lex yelled. "Give that back!"

Dex was fully prepared to watch the imparter get tossed back and forth as the two of them fought for it. He was about to turn around so he wouldn't get top dizzy from watching, but then the screen went dark for a half-second, before there was light again, and he could vaguely recognize that it was Bex's room.

"Ugh, I'm stuck," Bex groaned. "Ow ow ow Lex I will kick you in the face if I was able to see it. Wait I don't think he can hear me."

"What just happened?" Dex asked, confused. "How did you get to your room?"

Bex moved the imparter, and now Dex could see the situation a little better. Her head was sticking out of the room's floor, her head moving back and forth slightly as if she was actually trying to kick Lex.

"A... phaser?" Dex asked. "Is that painful?"

"Nah, I can't really feel it," she answered, before finally moving through the floor. "There we go. I've got about a minute until he gets here, but I'll just fall through the floor again."

"So when did you manifest?"

"Yesterday, just like Lex."

"That's great! What about Rex?"

She made a face. "He didn't manifest yet. He's taking too long, what a slowpoke."

"He'll get his soon," Dex said, but he thought about something.

The triplets were in their fifth year of Foxfire, meaning that they didn't have that much longer, since most elves manifested during the basic levels. So there was still some time, but he also knew that a child of a Talentless elf, he was less likely to manifest than other elves.

As a Talentless elf, he'd have to face a lot of scorn, and as a triplet, it would only be worse. His heart sank at the idea that his brother would have to deal with any of that, he still seemed so young.

"Where is Rex, by the way?" Dex asked, keeping his tone casual.

"Uh, in his room, doing homework. Do you want me to-"

Bex's door slammed open, and Lex came charging in. "Bex!"

"Peace out!" Bex said, and Dex could practically hear the grin on her face as she phased through the floor again.

"Bex, what are you doing?" Juline asked, and Dex covered his mouth to stifle a laugh. She was in trouble now.

"That isn't your imparter," Juline said, grabbing it with telekinesis. "Oh, Dex! How have you been?"
