'Left. Right. Find an opening for the divine dogs' He signaled his shikigami dogs to attack the moment he saw the guard of her katana lower.
'Use them as distraction' His hand, gripping his sword, charged at her.
'Don't lose this chance' His eyes widened at the sight of Hiyori's hands only millimeters from touching the shikigami dogs.
'Shit.'
Megumi immediately released his technique. Hiyori wouldn't kill them, of course, she liked the dogs almost as much as he did but if she was an actual enemy then that would be a different story.
A hard kick to his arm sent his sword flying out of his hand. Another kick to his face swiftly after the first sent him falling backward onto the floor with a hard thump.
Megumi groaned. One of his hands reached up to wipe the blood trickling from his cut lip. His black sword lay a few feet away from him on the freshly waxed, glossy wooden floor. His light green eyes looked at his opponent who was standing in front of him without a scratch or hair out of place. Her violet-blue eyes stared down at him with a dangerous glint in them.
The sheer power difference between the two of them was so obvious even to a complete idiot. She wasn't exhausted, harmed, or even wary of him. Compared to her, he was a weak little mouse. He was already out of cursed energy and she hadn't even used a single cursed technique. The katana in her hand still remained sheathed. She hadn't even withdrawn once and this was their fifth duel today.
"Do you know what you've been doing wrong?" Hiyori asked. Megumi thought about it for a moment.
"I was too brash and didn't properly plan out my actions" He answered only for Hiyori to shake her head. Megumi looked at her in confusion. 'That's not it?'
"How much of a jujutsu sorcerer's power relies on innate talent?" Hiyori asked.
"Around 80%" Megumi answered, unsure of what she was trying to say.
"That's correct. So, Megumi, why are you only focusing on that 80%?" Megumi's green eyes widened, finally understanding what she was trying to say.
"During our fight, you heavily relied on your cursed technique over your sword and cursed energy manipulation. Yes, your skill in using your innate talent is important but you can't always constantly depend on it. You've been neglecting your training in terms of cursed energy manipulation and fighting skill." Hiyori continued
"Consider Todo-senpai from the Kyoto school, he focuses on mainly using his cursed energy manipulation to channel cursed energy throughout his body when fighting yet he is still a rank 1 sorcerer. His innate ability, Boogie Woogie, from what I've heard, is only used against special-grade curses."
