21:32 - "overrated healing"

kai came home to a silent apartment.

he took his shoes off, ankles burning from all the walking; and soaked in the shower for a good half hour, almost falling asleep from being under the sun for too long. to say that kai's tired would be an understatement... he was drained.

university isn't being kind. projects over projects keep coming along with never ending papers due at the same time. how did people survive this? kai was sure he was a knock closer to death's door.

[20:07] soobin hyung: hey, love, is everything alright? you're not answering our calls and you're not replying either.

kai crashed into his bed after changing into a shirt and pajama pants. he tried his best to reply, really, but all he could come up with were series of typos and the most incoherent messages he can't remember typing.

[20:21] kai: m nus finr. sl eepinb rn and resting. so tirier..

whatever that was, he sent before closing his eyes.

kai felt something warm against his body. he shuffled to get even closer and fluttered his eyes open when his lips were claimed by a soft and eager pair. kai took in the feeling of being held, and match the same need he was receiving.

strawberries, kai thought, still half asleep. from the scent alone, he was sure of who's name to sigh as soon as the kiss ended.

"yeonjun hyung," a tired giggle was earned. "that was new."

rainfall of kisses landed on kai's face, pulling him from his dreaming state. "i missed you."

"we were together yesterday. soobin hyung even made us cookies," kai said 'as a matter of fact'-ly.

"you were ignoring us."

snorts. kai couldn't help but laugh at the pout on yeonjun's lips. he kissed it away. "i didn't mean to. i'm sorry."

yeonjun hummed. "binnie's outside, making food."

"can i help?" kai whispered. he wants to spend time with his soulmates more than ever.

"you need to heal, baby. you're so pale. what did we tell you about taking care of yourself?" yeonjun was now crushing most of kai's body with his own, nuzzling his head in kai's neck, wanting to get closer if that was possible.

"if it gets too hard, i'll come to you."

"and did you do that?"

"i didn't want to bother you."

yeonjun groaned, sending a ticklish feeling on kai's skin. "dummy. you're a big dummy. even soobin would agree with me."

that's not impossible, kai had to admit. soobin was the most rational one in the relationship, he's an old soul. when they bonded, soobin made sure to never leave kai's side unless necessary, despite kai's protest that it was fine. "you're going to fall sick without us beside you," soobin said that time, and he was right. when kai snuck out to attend university without soobin and yeonjun knowing, he passed out in less than a few hours.

their bond was taking a long time to finish because the gap between their first bond—seeing your soulmate—and the next bond—touching—was huge. almost five years. so their connection was yearning and fragile, mostly on kai's side because yeonjun and soobin had each other in between.

after that, soobin gave him a lecture like a child and didn't leave him alone for days. yeonjun just enjoyed cuddling his boyfriends the whole time. they both grew protective of him overtime, and kai didn't find anything wrong with that.

"healing is overrated," kai said, laughing; acting like he's not enjoying the calming feeling that comes with touching his soulmate.

yeonjun sat up. "then, none of it for you."

kai whined to the loss of contact, "wait, come back!"
