Chapter 37

Hanalee pov

I walked out of the house quietly shutting the door behind me to make sure I didn't wake anyone on my way out of the house.
I slowly made my way to the sidewalk contemplating how this whole thing was going to go down
I could hear the cars zoom past probably wondering why a 19 year old girl was walking on the sidewalk at two in the morning but I did not care
In a few minutes it wouldn't matter anyway
I heard a rustle and I glanced behind me only to see nothing
I shrugged it off and kept walking
I got to the bridge on the other side of town and looked out over it

It wasn't a big bridge but long Enough it was meant for when people used to actually have to go all the way around town to make it to the city close by but now there Is a main highway for that so it's abandoned,the bridge has lights wrapped around the rails and around the tool top bars and it was quite beautiful.
You could hear the water underneath the bridge flowing ,hitting rocks underneath the bridge quite roughly from such a strong current
I took a deep breath takin in my last moments of life
I could feel the tears comin down my fAce as I remembered all the names I was called and all the times I was beat up and screamed at

and forgotten

I wiped the tears from my face and pulled a leg over the rail and then the other I looked down at the water to see just how ruff it is and I knew that if I jumped I would hit the rocks and die and if I missed the rocks the current would surely drown me

"Goodbye, everybody" I said softly barely audible and closed my eyes to embrace for the fall an let fingers slip
From the rail

I let go completely and squeeze my eyes shut ready for death to overcome me

But it doesn't come

I slowly open my eyes to realize me feet are still on the bridge and I'm caught on something

I turn Around and realize that it's not something

It's someone

Someone I did not expect to be here

Especially saving me

Unknown POV

I followed her out of the door and walked behind he but kept my distance making sure not to get caught
I watched her walk with her head down she was wearing a sweatshirt with cloth sleeping short shorts but she was still beautiful her hair was slightly curly and messy in a cute bun

After walking for a bit I realized that we weren't going into town rather than on on the borders of town by the woods
I watched as she approached a bridge that was abandoned but it was still beautiful it had light strung on two rails an on the poles and on the roof bars I saw Hanalee look down at the bars she started sobbing
She was crying very hard and I don't even think she realized how bad she was crying
She was looking into the water lost in her own world when suddenly she started to climb over the rail
She put one leg over and then the other just sitting there and I thought she was just enjoying the view until I saw her stand on the bar and mumble a goodbye an I suddenly became aware of what she was doing

She was trying to kill herself

I ran up and grabbed her before she fell as she kept her eyes shut before looking up at me with complete and utter sadness in her eyes
SHE started crying

"Why did you have to save me" she screamed at me furiously then breaking down into sobs
I pulled her back over the bridge and picked her up bridal style and carrying her home I could feel her sobbing against my chest but I didn't mind it at all

I just don't understand why she would want to try and kill herself she looked so happy I thought she was finally happy after leaving virginia and Mathew and all of the boys

She genuinely looked happy and I thought she was

But I was obviously wrong

She was still crying and It killed me to see her this way
She was usually her happy ,giddy smiling and laughing and always making jokes self but you know the saying

The people who laugh the most cry the hardest

I never beloved that saying but I'm seeing it here now

She was acting happy bc she didn't want people to know how truly sad she was

I carried her through the from door of the house and set her down on the couch and held her why she was crying

She laid her he's on my lap let sleep take over

"I love you hanalee"

"Iove you too cameron"

That made me smile
