Anthony is walking around the house whistling the Marine song.
"Anthony! Stop it!" My mom says to him.
"It's a habit."
I go by him and start whistling it too.
"Oh God."
I keep whistling and Anthony starts signing.
"From the halls of Montezuma. To the shores of Tripoli. We will fight out country's battles, in the air, on land, and sea. First to fight for right and freedom. And to keep out honor clean. We are proud to claim the title of United States Marines. Our flags unfurled to every breeze. From dawn to setting sun. We have fought in every clime and place where we could take a gun. In the snow of far off northern lands and in sunny tropic scenes. You will find us always on he job. The United States Marines. Here's health to you and to our Corps. Which we are proud to serve. In many a strife we've fought for life. And never lost our nerve. If the Army and the Navy ever look on heaven's scenes. They will find the streets are guarded by United States Marines."
"Okay. Really you two?"
"Yeah."
"Okay. You two crazy kids."
"I'm not a kid." Anthony says.
"Sure." My mom says.
I laugh.
"Come on. I'm 22 years old."
"Yeah. And you act half that."
"So 10?"
"Do you need to go back to first grade math?"
I laugh again.
"I may have to."
"Half of 22 is 11 dumbo." I say.
"Who likes math anyway?"
"Not me."
"Not me either."
"I'll take English."
"Really? English?"
"Yeah. I have an A plus, plus actually."
"How do you get an A++ I couldn't even get an A let alone an A+ or an A++."
"I actually do my homework."
"I did do my homework."
"Aha, sure."
"But really, how?"
"It's easy for me."
"Oh my god! When do you even do your homework? You don't get home from practice till like 9. You shower every single night for like a half hour. You have competitions on the weekends. When do you do this?"
"After my shower. At breakfast, on the bus if we go somewhere for competition. At dance when we have time."
"What time do you go to bed at night?"
"11:30. Probably not good for a gymnast."
"It's not." My mom says. "Reasoning why I can't wait for summer and I can home school her for high school."
"Okay. So this dream thing is happening soon then?"
"Juniors starts at the fall of my Sophomore year."
"Wow."
"But I'm so excited!"
"So, I heard we have the gym, big gym apparently in the basement. Kinda want to flip over the bars maybe. Have some fun."
"Let's go." I say with a smile.
We head down to the basement.
"Well, this has grown."
"Yeah."
I jump up on the bar and sit on it.
"Nice you crazy monkey."
"No." I flip upside down. "Now I am."
"Yes you are."
"Now come on."
He jumps on the higher one. He flips over it.
"You should have done gymnastics."
"No. That's not my thing."
"But your good at it for not having it be your thing."
"Okay, maybe it's a little bitty thing."
"Keep it coming."
He just looks at me.
"Fine. I like gymnastics but you tell anyone I swear to God."
"I won't tell a soul."
"Sure you won't."
"I won't."
"Okay."
OMG! ANTHONY LIKES GYMNASTICS! WONDER WHATS GOING TO HAPPEN.... WELL I KNOW BUT YOU GUYS WILL HAVE TO READ ON TO FIND OUT!
